Why should our troops be put in this position and in this added danger just so some kook, who hasn't the brains or the caring to give a rats rump of the outcome as long as he gets his 15 minutes - why should our troops be put in th is position?

Because if we show them that their violence can control our actions, they will become even more violent.

There is something very serious afoot concerning the First Amendment to the Constitution. I heard a talk show from Michigan it is Traverse City. I think it is a widely broadcast show. Lawyer Shop with Curt Benton and Mike Dunn. I think someone had mentioned the FBI visits to the Pastor as being disturbing.

Now by a quick sleight of hand/thought, one of the lawyers said it (FBI visit) was quite in order. That if one says something and bad things result, one must suffer the consequences. My words here are that the old saw of crying "Fire" in a crowded theatre is a crime. Of course it is.

Now here is the dangerous new way of thinking by these people. If a person uses the First Amendment and there is a reaction- the talk show lawyer used "100 Arab Christians or 100 American soldiers being killed", This is a crime.

What is being done is to equate the poor panic stricken people in a crowded theatre, with wicked psychopathic murderers. Their reaction to the shout/statement causes deaths. That they (murderers) are thus enabled by someone using the First Amendment right, forces them to explode with rage and to kill. This now means that sheer blackmail is being used. One dare not speak or "there will be deaths".

Blackmail like this will not stop there. If they get away with this, being enabled by certain forces in authority, with the hissyfit media, well..... we could be done for as free people.

Short sighted does not begin to explain your post.

If we don’t kick them in their collective nuts now and tell them in no uncertain terms our free speech trumps their death cult, we will only delay their inevitable war against us.

Burn a Koran a minute. Insight their violence. Show the world who they are so we may all gather together and remove this cancer from our planet.

Today in church the pastor read a letter from the united methodist bishop. He disparaged the act of burning the "holy book" from another religion. I cringed. How can we convince the church that we face an existential threat from Islam? How can they call the Koran a "holy book"?

I get discouraged sometimes by what they say.

Christopher Hitchens hits the nail on the head with his comments about Islamic Rage Boy but his observations apply to all muslims protesting in rage about damn near everything. When we let muslim threats of impending violence dictate our conduct we are well on the way to losing the war and losing our freedoms. Muslims say if someone burns the Koran they will kill Americans. If we prevent Koran burnings will they stop killing Americans? Of course not. Americans must not let muslims intimidate us and dictate our conduct.

In the name of free speech Americans constantly accept behavior we may not like. Just because an act is legal doesn't mean it is wise. But we understand that our constitution protects unwise or objectionable speech and actions. We live with it every day.

Why should we treat burning Korans any differently than other legal but objectionable acts? Is our government prepared to back down everytime a muslim goes off into a rage about something an American does or says?

Look Forward to Anger
By Christopher Hitchens

"It's impossible to satisfy "Rage Boy" and his ilk. It's stupid to try."

"We may have to put up with the Rage Boys of the world, but we ought not to do their work for them, and we must not cry
before we have been hurt."

"Rage Boy keenly looks forward to anger, while we worriedly anticipate trouble, and fret about etiquette, and prepare the
next retreat. If taken to its logical conclusion, this would mean living at the pleasure of Rage Boy, and that I am not prepared
to do."

Now the question for y'all is: "Why should our troops be put in this position and in this added danger just so some kook, who hasn't the brains or the caring to give a rats rump of the outcome as long as he gets his 15 minutes - why should our troops be put in th is position?

Not even a little. I value American freedom, even for people I disagree with.

The biggest question I have is why you put the blame for this on civilians at home who have had enough of fundamentalist Islam, and not on the politicians in the Whitehouse and state department setting the rules of engagement. That is whetre the blame lies, and any conservative would see it.

The troops should heve been instructed to defend themselves - that is where the problem lies. Nation building is an unrealistic goal in dealing with this culture.

Our guys may not fear the rioters but they really need to keep a sharp eye on the muslim troopers they’ve trained and with whom they are now patrolling over there.

They would be foolish if they weren't already watching them closely. The word of a Mohammedan is worth it's weight in gold.

“Of course our troops don’t fear them. Heck, Petreaus doesn’t have the balls to do it, but a good strategy would be to announce that US troops are going to burn 10,000 copies of the Koran at a fixed time and place. Wait for the extremists to attack to prevent it, and take them out. You don’t even need the actual copies of the Koran. Just tell them you have em.”

Not a bad plan actually. Those that would riot over burning a Quran are the very type we should want to eliminate anyway. This is one was to flush them out.
