Now that you mention it, Otis was probably a conservative. In a town full of liberals - probably why he drank so much. :)

I will never be able to watch the Andy Griffith Show ever again. I feel like a part of my childhood just died. Andy - you are such a jerk!

Yep, “Surprise, surprise!” The rumor was he and Rock Hudson were an item. It’s almost like finding out that Alice Cooper is a conservative and devout Christian.

Good. He’s always—ALWAYS—been a raging Lib political activist. Now more people are seeing it.

He hid behind folksy characters whose beliefs he probably despised. Now more people know what was behind the mask.

Good.

Let’s hope the same is true for Henry “The Fonz” Winkler and little Ronnie “Baseball Hat to hide the Dome” Howard.

They put together a little ad in 2008 that was oh-so-cute and heart-warming and helped to put America’s first half-black communist in the White House.

Were there any conservatives in Mayberry?

Briscoe Darling and family. Those boys were Capitalists who regularly turned corn, sugar and molasses into a more valuable commodity. Heck, they even sang about it.
