A good op-ed on the subject at :http://plancksconstant.org/blog1/2010/09/burning_the_quran_is_a_good_thing.html

Burning the Koran is a good thing by Bernie Planck

Some people may complain that such an event will only to stir up a hornet’s nest of Muslim outrage and help extremist groups recruit more Jihadists.

Well, actually that’s a good thing for a number of reasons. Let me tell you why.

First of all, Taliban recruiters are already telling lies about America in order to persuade young gullible stupid Muslims to join them. Read the comments from my moderate Muslim readers who make ridiculous statements such as Americans have killed a million Iraqis and Afghanis and that we set dogs on Muslim inmates at Gitmo. It doesn’t matter what the truth is, there will be lies. I doubt this Quran burning will get any more press than the usual fabrications against us.

Second, for Muslims here in the US, it will be a lesson on freedom of expression. We are not Europe, and a simple display of Islamophobia is not yet a crime.

Third, Let Muslims know that we are not intimidated. Let all Ahmeds and Fatimas know that if they keep on provoking us with demands of accommodation, that there will be consequences.

And last: Let the nest be stirred - let every Muslim who is stirred to action join a Jihad now. Why should Jihadists come to the party in dribs and drabs? Let a million all join at once. What is better, to catch a cockroach here and there, from time to time, or to have all of them come out at one time so they they can be squashed once and for all?

I am opposed to burning books - but this is a political statement, and in that regard it is an expression of speech which is of course guaranteed by our Constitution. I would certainly defend with my life any attempt by our government to burn any book, the Quran included. But certainly, if someone needs to tell the world how evil and disgusting Islam is, then this is arguably the only book in the world worthy of a good toasting.

Let it burn. It will be the only time that the Quran shines a light unto the world.

As for Romney more reason he needs to stay in his RINO castle. He is not presidential and never was military material. Think MassCare or Massacre in Maas. Healthcare.

"LOL. Black hole is perfect. How ya been? Good summer up in the hills?"

Yes--very busy and fun at the same time!

On the Quran burning issue, they're probably afraid that inciting the ragheads to cry will incite their neighbors (our trading partners), the monkeys, to make more haste in divesting from our Treasury. Government employees and their government-dependent benefactors...I tell ya.

He is right. There is no need to lower ourselves to the level of the insane Islamist. Just because he has the right does it make his actions right? Just as the Muslims have the right to build the Ground Zero Mosque is it right to do so?

Anytime a Romney wants to go into the Combat Arms, he can actually, physically, really save a troops life with his own.

Seeing how this is sometimes called ‘The Long War’, there’s plenty of opportunity, if one was so patriotically inclined.

IIRC, no one in Romney’s family has served.

Let me get O’l Blood And Gut’s Mittens right.

Ah hem.

So, there’s this wood pulp, made into flakes, pages. Scribbles in ink are pressed on it. Then their bound in glue, or thread, and covered in cardboard, or vinal. Maybe pleather for the rich.

And it’s burned. Somewhere. By the people that own the pages. A few bucks.

Now, a ten thousand miles away, some wackjob thus decides to kill people, ‘cause somebody toasted his personal property .

And we should bow down to these guys, or Mitt should or would. And he wants to be ‘Commander In Chief’.

Yeah.

I said, “GET LOST,” child.

I heard you the first time, Gramma.

Are you a heavenly wife or celestial spouse or whatever they are called?

"Goddess" of a planet? If not, bugger off.

General Commander Romney FINALLY takes the lead ... for Islam.

Alex Beam: “In truth, Ronald Reagan
and Mitt Romney have as much in common
as Cardinal O’Malley and Conan O’Brien.
Deservedly or not, Reagan earned a reputation for constancy.
Once he turned against communism, he opposed it big-time.
…. And our former governor? Inconstancy, thy name is Mitt!
A woman’s right to choose? Yes! No! Yes!
Are we in Massachusetts? Yes! Are we in Iowa? No!
Are we on TV? Whatever!”

Find yourselves a better one, ASAP!

ANN COULTER

The reason not to burn Qurans is that it's unkind -- not to jihadists, but to Muslims who mean us no harm. The same goes for building a mosque at ground zero -- in both cases, it's not a question of anyone's "rights," it's just a nasty thing to do.

" Just because he has the right does it make his actions right? "

My how a few weeks make a difference, those are the same words that some here were saying about the Jhadist radical Muslims wanting to build a IN YOUR FACE victory symbol to Islam at the World Trace Center sight.

The big difference here is ?

It is HIS constitutional right as a private citizen ( PRIVATE CITIZEN, not a public entity ).
Whereas ?
The building of the IN YOUR FACE victory symbol to Islam and the thumb in the eye of America is a public controversy where even the Muslim in chief wants it to be built there at the very sight that radical Islamic Muslims killed 3,000 of our fellow US citizens on 9/11.

Even Ted Kennedy, Yon Kerry, Algore knew, if not felt, a bit of affection. They had some notion of duty, if not desire to man the ramparts.

Not a single Romney, as you know. Not one, since before the Civil War. Not one of Mitt’s well educated, stapping son’s, post 9/11. Nothing. Nada. Zip. No thanks, we’re busy. It would be a pay cut, a sacrifice.

I won’t say that’s ‘all right’. It is, of course, a right. No one forces anyone. It’s a matter of free will, and values. In this case Mitt Romney family values. No doubt Mitt, who honestly wanted to serve in Viet Nam, but sadly had pressing LDS business in France, told many times his sons about his regrets. ( Who doesn’t get older with out them? ).

But, It’s nice Mitt has informed us unwashed, non-Harvard types that the Islamist who are now seriously thinking about how they really love us, might well become a wee bit angry.

Thanks Mitt. You’re a big help.
