Bush sure surrounded himself with a lot of questionable, very liberal characters.

What’s that they say about “birds of a feather”?

In my lifetime, I can’t recall an RNC Chairman who was worth his weight in styrofoam. One of the many reasons I’ll probably never register (R).

Birds of a feather...

Mehlman plays the Gay Card and Steele plays the Race Card and they wonder why we won’t contribute to them?

Haley Barbour, now Mississippi Governor, was an outstanding RNC chair in the early 1990’s.

A straight RINO is as bad as a gay RINO.

>>> There is no such thing as a Conservative Sodomite. The two are mutually exclusive. Shame and shun them.

Definition of SODOMY
: anal or oral copulation with a member of the same or opposite sex

If you “shame and shun” EVERYBODY who fits into that definition, you’re going to be left in a very small remainder. Funny how most people are too uninformed to realize it applies to heterosexuals as well, and in MUCH higher numbers.

Just sayin’.

>>> Somehow I see this Mehlman guy snuggled up in bed with Colin Powell.

Kenneth Brian Mehlman (born August 21, 1966, Baltimore, Maryland) is an American attorney and political figure. Currently a Member, Managing Director and head of Global Public Affairs for Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, he previously served as a partner at the law firm of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld.[1]

Mehlman has been a longtime figure in the Republican Party. He was a campaign manager for the 2004 re-election campaign of George W. Bush before serving as chairman of the Republican National Committee from 2005 to 2007. In June 2007, Bush appointed Mehlman to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council.

Mehlman is Jewish and lives in Washington, D.C. On August 25, 2010, he came out as gay.

Just a ‘politics makes for strange bedfellows’ reference. Something to do with shared “urban values”, as articulated by Powell.

Careful. There are many good people here who aren’t ready to work out to its conclusion the fact that the rhetoric never did fit the policy, deeds and associations.

The Democrat machine snookers and abuses loyal black supporters year after year. The institutional GOP has conservatives instead. Of course, we have been getting uppity of late.

Washington is supposedly “run by gays”. I saw some documentary on one of the movie channels a few weeks ago about all of the gays in politics (forget the name of it). They claimed a huge % of staffers on both sides are gay. They made a point to name all of the gay republicans, including Mehlman and Charlie Christ. I wouldn’t have a problem with gays in the GOP if they weren’t doing what Mehlman has done and pushed the gay agenda.

But we’ll keep on convincing ourselves that the true Conservative choice is to vote Republican, election after election ... too many of us Conservatives act like abused wives, always coming back to the abuser.

Conservatives support Limited Self Government

No -- fascists, communists, and other totalitarians support limitations on self-government. Conservatives support expanded self-government and limitations on external government.

The interesting question is (in view of Ted Haggart, George Rekers, et al) how much of the “social conservative” leadership is actually gay.
