This was a federal trial and the federal judicial district is not confined to the city itself. The pool of potential jurors comes from a much larger area.
Though I don't have the breakdown yet I believe only two of the eleven jurors were Chicagoans, the rest came from the northern, western and southern outlying suburbs of the Windy City.
I think Flaglady knows more about this so I hope she's still up and sees my ping.

If, on average, one in twelve jurors votes to acquit, there is only about 35% chance of getting a conviction, based on a binomial distribution. Under the same assumptions, there is only a one chance in five of getting two jurors voting to acquit.
Of course, in the real world, every single member of the jury pool will be aware of his conviction for lying to the FBI and may feel he cheated justice the first time. They may be much more inclined to convict.
