The number of U.S. workers making new claims for jobless benefits unexpectedly climbed last week to the highest level in six months, adding to concerns about the economy's weakness.
Some analysts think the data are still being distorted by seasonal adjustment problems associated with annual factory shutdowns by car makers. Yet there is no denying U.S. labor conditions are poor.

“Unexpected” — DRINK!
Those darn ‘serfs’ refuse to find jobs, just to make the ‘won’ look bad..
These morons that continue to be SURPRISED by the UNEXPECTED natural consequences of failed liberal economic policies are stupider than Charlie Brown who keeps falling on his ASS every time Lucy UNEXPECTEDLY pulls the football away when he tries to kick it.
“Stubbornly” high? Like it’s a live thing making a choice?!
When the economy does the same thing unexpectedly for 15 months in a row it’s not unexpected anymore. Only in Obamaworld is the predictable considered unexpected.
Stubborn is the new unexpected.
“Unexpectedly stubborn”.
(Must be that pesky Bush again!)
Will stubborn replace unexpected next week?
Hysterical...considering all the contortions the real technicals are put through every week to make things look 'good' for the 'Dear Leader.'
Just look at July, the GDP numbers were contorted, er, I mean 'reported' to be 2.4%, which caused a surge in euphoria in the stock market the last few weeks in July. Then yesterday, those pesky little things we like to call 'facts' came out, and the actual GDP numbers were closer to 1.3%. Ooops, the government officials said---we do the best we can to estimate...blah, blah, blah. Yeah, not so much.
I frankly think 0bama is reveling in this. The larger dependency constituency he can create, the better -- in his diseased mind.
Went Grocery shopping, when you hear people OPENLY po’d in having to get UE bene’s, you know there is trouble in River city.
If they really wanted people to find jobs,
they’d discontinue unemployment extensions.
No, they LIKE the idea of people NOT being self-reliant.
>>>Initial unemployment claims rose by 2,000 to 484,000 in the week ended Aug. 7
I’m one of those 2000... :(
THAT’S WACSIST!!!
WE SEE AND FEEL WHAT THE REGIME IS DOING TO DESTROY AMERICA... THE ECONOMY IS RESPONDING EXACTLY AS ONE WITH A BRAIN AND UNDERSTANDING OF CAPITALISM, FREE MARKETS AND OUR ECONOMY WOULD EXPECT IT TO. ONLY communists and socialists BELIEVE OTHERWISE.
LLS
How can it both “REMAIN” high and yet “Rise unexpectedly to a 6 month high”?
Headline seems whacked.
