The 1,200 National Guard troops that are being deployed incrementally to the southwest border will not be doing direct law enforcement, said U.S. National Guard Bureau Director of Communications Jack Harrison when asked if the forces would be interdicting drugs and undocumented immigrants.
The two mission sets are criminal analysts and enter-identification team, Harrison told CNSNews.com. I can tell you that guardsmen will not be doing direct law enforcement on the southwest border.
In other words, the National Guardsmen will not be used to actually stop and detain illegal aliens trying to sneak across the border into the United States.
Harrison made his comments on Friday during a bloggers roundtable sponsored by the Department of Defense (DOD).
When CNSNews.com asked if the National Guard assessed whether 1,200 troops were adequate to accomplish the mission assigned by the Department of Homeland Security and DOD, Harrison said, DHS and DOD determined the number necessary for this request and I dont have anything further on that part of your question...
On July 19, Gen. Craig McKinley, commander of the National Guard, indicated that although the forces will be armed, they will be limited by rules of engagement that allow them to shoot only in self-defense. "The rules for the use of force will be well-coordinated, and they're the same as our counternarcotics teams that are there now -- for self-preservation only, self-defense only," he said.
Harrison further said that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the DOD were responsible for determining the number of troops to be deployed incrementally along the approximately 2,000-mile southwest border.
This deployment involves up to 1,200 National Guardsmen for up to 365 days or 1 year, and it is scaled based on what DHS requested of DOD and is essentially to allow the hiring and training of approximately 1,000 more agents that is part of a larger plan at DHS for the southwest border, said Harrison.
For heaven’s sake, why deploy them at all? Are they only there to bear witness to the fact that illegals can cross the borders with impunity? We already know that!
More of the same. The troops Bush sent down there didn’t either. We are in many instances fighting one major party in Washington, D. C.
People must vote in Cs and quite voting in Ls.
This is BS we need our country back.
Well, that would be just plain silly, wouldn’t it?
I hope no one will be surprised.... that I’m not surprised.
No shock there...
pencil pushers....are they going to take back the park?
This was announced when the ‘promise’ to deply the 1200 was announced.
Of course not. They’re there to protect the invading barbarians and register them as Democrats.
They will be handing out voter registration cards and welfare eligibility information.
Maybe they’re going to keep them from going back to Mexico.
Returning warriors have guns and blood in their ears and eyes.
All that conditioning and they see a squad of enemy crossing into our camp and .... damn!!
A gun and a death and the whole program blows up.
You know what this means don’t you. They are there for the purpose of keepinng the local ranchers from shooting back at illegal aliens. This is a force designed to protect illegal aliens and to prevent a range war.
All those who trust the federal government--on anything--please raise your right hand now and say "Me!".
** crickets **
what in the hell do we have to do to get this moronski to listen?
Obviously, Obama plans to overwhelm the invaders with laughter.
He will have our troops wear their hats backwards, so that the invaders think the good guys are leaving. While the bad guys are on the ground laughing, we move in and scoop them up. Pure genius.
Even Hillary knows that it takes a village to close a border.
One group will be rounding them up after they have been interdicted and the other will be registering them as Democrats so they can vote in November.
I figured out what the wise One is doing... see post #20. ;>)
Maybe they can direct pregnant Mexicans to the nearest maternity ward.
They are there strictly for political cover for the traitor-in-chief. They have orders to DO NOTHING.
I really tried to read through the article to see what the NatGuard troops will do to no avail?
ROFL. Yes, that’s excellent!
Scouts out! Cavalry Ho!
Dems give is failure Janets.
Every report I’ve ever heard says that the troops will be administrative and not used for “enforcement of the border.”
Political pawns instead of soldiers.
“Dems give is failure Janets.”
“They will be handing out voter registration cards and welfare eligibility information”
Along with water, candy bars and maps to major cities outside Arizona.
I meant... Dems give us failure Janets
No, the troops are there to investigate and assess the exact nature of the insurrection in AZ, so that the Federal Government will know who to arrest and where to send troops when the state’s righters go for a ‘2nd amendment solution.” POTUS duties include the duty to preserve the union and keep the peace.
AHA! (I was a little worried about you there for a minute... ;0)
Of course not, but consider the inner turmoil of being home, being invaded and can’t do anything.
LOL Even when I got the wording correct it was gibberish from my head. i e... incomplete sentence LOL I am not an English teacher don’t worry!
WHEN ARE WE PATRIOTS GOING TO OVERTHROW THIS CORRUPT, FASCIST AND DEGENERATE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT?
Well, wait just a second here... what exactly did we expect armed troops to do on our southern border? Did anybody really think they were being put there to start just machine-gunning women and children running across the border? Setting claymores?
It’s all good.
Funny, but good. :0)
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
“Did anybody really think they were being put there to start just machine-gunning women and children running across the border? Setting claymores?”
There are quite a few other things, like simply being there with arms, to discourage illegal crossings.
Nobody is suggesting your ridiculous scenario. Our troops have more sense than you give them credit for.
Sadly, we already knew this and the guard that is going was requested by MEXICO to stop OUR $$$ and guns from entering Mexico. But that doesn’t stop this administration from letting the populace think they’re actually doing something about the border.

Mexico asks National Guard to combat crime and not immigrants
Mexicos Secretary of Foreign Relations (SRE) requested that the 1,200 US National Guard soldiers sent to the Mexican border by President Obama be used to pursue organized criminals and not immigrants. Mexico is confident that the personnel of the National Guard will strengthen the operations to combat transnational organized crime that exists on both sides of the border and ( ) not undertake activities directly connected to the application of migratory laws, said Secretary Patricia Espinosa Cantellano in a communique. In the message, she reiterated that the Mexican government respects the sovereign decisions of the US, but demanded that this decision of Obamas result in channeling additional resources to reinforce the prevention of illegal traffic of arms and cash money to Mexico.
In a related story, Joel Hernandez, judicial adviser for the SRE explained that the Mexican government has no recourse in the International Court to legally stop Arizonas new law, SB 1070, for lack of jurisdictional grounds to challenge a state law. Mexico can only assist in US law suits as friend of the court.

Illegal entrants can rest easy
Washington, D.C. The US National Guard sent to reinforce the border will seek to stop illegal traffic and not be used to enforce immigration law, the US State Department affirmed today. The Mexican government had requested that the soldiers not be used against immigrants. What the president announced today is totally consistent with our efforts to do our part in counteracting violence and to halt the flow of dangerous people and property: arms and drugs, said the State Departments spokesman, Philip Crowley. It doesnt have to do with immigration. It doesnt have to do with the flow of certain things that come to this side of the border, Crowley said,
US troops won’t be used to stop illegal immigration: US

US National Guard troops being sent to the Mexican border will be used to stem the flow of guns and drugs across the frontier and not to enforce US immigration laws, the State Department said Wednesday. The clarification came after the Mexican government urged Washington not to use the additional troops to go after illegal immigrants.
The troops have more sense indeed, than anyone who thinks you can just stand there with guns, and illegal crossings will stop. Everybody knows we’re not going to be shooting unarmed civilians at the border.
“than anyone who thinks you can just stand there with guns, and illegal crossings will stop”
An all or nothing scenario is ridiculous. Nobody suggested that, either.
Maybe they will be there to give out cold drinks, fresh clothes and offer maps to sanctuary states. (after writing this sarcastic statement, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if they had to do that)
I’ll guess that you forgot your sarcasm tag.
I keep reading stories where the Obama Administration is deporting illegals in unprecedented numbers. Do you believe that? I don’t know whether to believe it or not!
Help Texas watch her borders.
