Question is why is the same admin that helped BP free the Lockerbie bomber now putting the screws to BP...?

BP will this week step up its fight against an "unconstitutional" proposal to ban it from new US offshore drilling,...

One thing happens and people -- as usual -- over react.

It is under the jurisdiction of the American courts, so I don’t see how British courts would come into it unless BP was drilling on British territory...

BP’s gross misconduct, warrants punishment

>Our Democratic Congress are fools.<

no.
Democrats, to a large extent, are smart, wise,
and worldly. They are also, cheats, thieves and
accomplished liars.

Republicans, on te other hand,
are often naive beyond belief

All those old pieces have been jettisoned for "auras,penumbras and emmanations" I know what's emanating from DC. 'Tis a foul, foetid stench.

Speaking of gross misconduct...... Comment from Vladtheimp at the volokh conspiracy says:
While the lease was granted in 2008, the actual drilling/impact plan was submitted in early 2009 and BP was exempted from the standard, more rigorous impact studies because the DOI thought they were safe. The actual issues that lead up to the explosion are quite recent and BP did notify the regulators of issues with the site more than a month prior. The MMS issued a drilling permit for the site just days before the explosion. Inspections were skipped. Some examples of government potential negligence:

* MMS approving some of the drilling methods that caused the accident;
* Obama’s dithering on how the government would deal with the spill;
* Failure to approve Louisiana’s plans to deal with the spill proactively;
* Failure to follow its own rules regarding emergency responses to spills (having boom on hand);
*Failure to accept foreign expertise and help through waiver of the Jones Act
*Failure to explore available sources for boom

* Ordering a moratorium on drilling and exploration, throwing thousands out of jobs based on a misrepresentation by Secretary Salazar

The Jones Act didn’t need a waiver. In fact, it didn’t apply to the spill case. Only when moving goods from US port to US port does the JA rule.
Of course, the Act has already been shot full of holes. More than a decade ago, the Canadian National Railroad bought US Steel’s ore carrier fleet on the Great Lakes.

Enough with the Michael Weiner nonsense. Not only has that stupid travel ban been rescinded, but it’s irrelevant to the issue at hand.

Man, what’s happened to this site?

” ... Enough with the Michael Weiner nonsense. Not only has that stupid travel ban been rescinded ... “

Granting that perhaps relevancy maybe be debatable, but please cite source that “stupid travel ban” has been rescinded. My last check, 30 July 2010, was that the ban was still in effect. The point, of course, is not travel, but freedom of speech in UK. Side note: " ... One man's nonsense maybe another man's insight ..." Who said that?

Last I heard, the UK reviewed the ban and rescinded it. If they didn’t, or reinstated it, then oh well; Michael Weiner’s travel destinations don’t concern me too awful much. Besides, as moronic as their reasoning is, at least the UK is exercising some form of border control; would that Obama had the will to do the same.

And yes, this is irrelevant to the unconstitutional nature of a proposed bill in the US. We don’t get to play revenge just because your favorite radio host can’t go somewhere.

My information is that as of 31 July 2010, the ban is in effect. The issue is not border control, since Dr. Savage was not trying to enter UK, but rather Speech Control!

I fail to follow your logic in your assessment of Dr. Savage’s case.

I gather he is not your hero, but that is hardly the issue is it?

Michael Weiner is not the issue here, no.

Sure, but your comment equating border control enforcement with free speech suppression IS!

The UK cannot do a single thing to suppress the rights of a foreign person. Nothing.

“The UK cannot do a single thing to suppress the rights of a foreign person. Nothing.”

Except put them on a Terrorist List, publicly brand them as potential Terrorist and/or hate mongers who are promoting violence against innocents, and deny them entry into UK.
Sure, you got it accurately “nothing”!
LOL

Probably because in the end, for many of these people, in BP and in US govt, nations don’t matter. In my opinion, it has nothing to do with the British, or the Americans, as they all are beyond that. All they care about is money or power or prestige.
