WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama on Friday called ethics charges against Democratic Rep. Charlie Rangel "very troubling" and said he hopes the longtime lawmaker can end his career with dignity. Several House Democrats went further, flat-out urging the New York congressman to resign.

"He's somebody who's at the end of his career," Obama said in an interview that aired Friday on "CBS Evening News with Katie Couric." "I'm sure that what he wants is to be able to end his career with dignity. And my hope is that it happens."

Obama, speaking on the issue for the first time, praised the 20-term Rangel for serving his constituents well but called the more than one-dozen tax and disclosure charges against him "very troubling."

I think the reason this has taken so long is the dems/rats are furiously digging for some serious dirt on a republican to make some cover for Rangel.

Rangel is red meat and even the preening press can't hardly not report it.

Before all this is said and done the dems will throw some poor sap pubbie in the fire to try and take the heat off Rangel.

Remember to paraphrase some rat congressman "it's not the evidence but the seriousness of the charge that counts"

I don’t know why it would be troubling to Obama. It’s not that different from Chicago.

I'm sure Zero thought it was troubling, "very troubling that he got caught" that is.

Obama wants to get rid of Rangel. Its interesting that Rangel has decided to fight him. Why does Obama want rid of Rangel? He wants a nationalist socialist extremist to represent Harlem in order to radicalize it. Rangel won't have anyone controlling his territory politically , or its agenda, other than himself.

The Dems are covering for a lot worse, Harry Reid has a huge closet full of skeletons, shady real estate deals etc., but he is not investigated. Obama simply wants Rangel gone.

I hope Rangel stays and fights so we can see the fur fly, and watch the Congressional Black Caucus split between the good old boys and the newly converted, leftist Obot nationalist socialists who want the Obama radical "New Deal." Rangel likes the old deal, it has worked well for him for 39 years.

Now watch Obama try to slide the knife into Rangel's back. The Obama purge is under way, and it has been conducted quietly, many dems in Congress have decided not to run again, and have retired as a consequence.

Rangel has not gone along with the Obama extortion process. Obama wants Harlem radicalized to ignite the fires of his hope and change agenda, and has a firebrand in mind to take Rangel's place. The streets of Harlem will then obey the call to radical action as Obama wants.

One more fascist marker Obama. We are on to YOU!

What a cheap punk thing for Hussein to say. Has he seen the proof of stupidity? When will this man-child learn to seize those golden opportunities to keep his mouth shut.

Nixon made on off hand remark about Charles Mason and from the press you would have thought he suspended habeus grabbass. Put them to there proof Charlie, if it takes until election day. Man these rats are quick to throw there pals under the bus.

Charlie knows the house is full of incompetent cowards and feels like not going down without a fight.

Hey Obammy, how dare you tell Charlie what to do. You, sir, are the one that should go. You are guilty of treason. You are guilty of trying to turn our country into a third world country by taking over every segment of the economy and destroying any incentive for the free enterprise system to flourish.
What Charlie has done pales in comparison to what you are doing.
Do the right thing and resign—NOW!!!!!

The man who got Tony Rezko to help him with the purchase of his home thought the accusations against Rangel were “troubling”.

I know you'll be shocked, shocked by this possibility, but it *could be* that Obama is just lying for public relations purposes.
