I hope he rain never stops. Never in a million billion years.

Quit being an ignorant jackass jihad jackemoff.

If you really blindly hope for people in an entire state to suffer based on the results of a single election - you are of no value to advancing conservative ideals in my humble opinion. You are likely one of the idiots that the MSM spends hours looking for in a crowd in order to put their dumb ass face on TV as a representative of conservatives in general.

Kill the infidels! Let the infidels DIE!

Sound familiar. Sounds like the battle cry of our real enemy, but familiar.

Congratulations on being an idiot...

Is there any regulation of private dams? That’s a fascinating question. Thanks for inspiring me to investigate it.

It was on the list to repair, but if the papers are right was never given a high priority. One of those things.

No one wants to spend money to fix things. That doesn't give you good PR, so they all dump money into new things.

I fear this is going to happen alot more.

Davenport has its Bix fest right now, and the storms yesterday wrecked quite a bit of it. Minor flooding, nothing major predicted. But the ball park will be an island again.

I agree with you. It’s certainly true here in NJ. I’m surprised we haven’t had a bridge collapse yet. You’ve got a continual demand for more roads to reduce congestion, and the old ones are falling apart from too much traffic. It costs moolah to fix them and NO one wants to spend the money. Besides, there’s no ribbon-cutting on maintenance work.

So it’s all “deferred maintenance.”

It must be even more so with privately-owned dams. Just who is supposed to provide for their upkeep?

At least this wasn’t like the earthen dam in Tennessee holding back all that coal slurry, that collapsed in 2008. The people downstream from that will not be able to go home probably in their lifetimes.

“Is there any regulation of private dams? That’s a fascinating question. Thanks for inspiring me to investigate it.”

Found this-

Dam Ownership in the United States

Most U.S. dams are privately owned (56.4%) followed by local governments (20.1%), undetermined interests (11.6%), state governments (4.8%), the federal government (4.7%), and public utilities (2.4%).
Source: National Inventory of Dams, February 2005

Dam owners are responsible for the safety and the liability of the dam and for financing its upkeep, upgrade, and repair.

Although most infrastructure facilities, such as roads, bridges, and sewer systems, are owned by public entities, the majority of dams in the United States are privately owned. In general, very large dams are owned and regulated by the Federal Government.

Given the diffuse nature of dam ownership versus regulation in the United States, it is apparent that dam safety and security are often not solely a federal, state, or local issue.

The safety and security of a dam can affect persons and property across local, state, and even national borders. An incident in one area can affect commerce, navigation, and power generation and distribution, or it can cause severe damage in another area. As a result, there is a reasonable federal role to coordinate federal, state, and local efforts to provide dam safety and security to citizens.

Boy, I love me some Beiderbecke. I’ve always wanted to attend the Festival. What a shame? What have temperatures been out there? It was 102+ and 70% humidity yesterday - felt like my brains were boiling. Nothing for it but to go to the movies/

About 90F with the same humidity. Heat index over a hundred. Still haven’t had a “True” 100 degree day yet.

All the marathon runners were really beat by the time the race got done! We didn’t go down to the street fair this year, my daughter is just to little for that.

Where’s FNC drama Queen Shep Smith whining about how the federal government isn’t doing more and how 0bama (peace be upon him) doesn’t care about rural white people? Oh yeah, Shep don’t care either...
