After the election of 1980, Reagan almost never mentioned his predecessor, and he certainly did not do so in the purposely insulting and demeaning way that Obama routinely speaks of his.
The difference is that Ronald Reagan had a deep wellspring of personal character, loved his country enough to look beyond partisan politics, and always strove to appeal to the nation's essential goodness. In contrast with the present Oval Office resident, the gulf between the two men could not be greater if they were born on different planets.
