“It doesn’t exist!”

I assure you sir, that it exists.

Whether you agree with the legality of it or not, is another issue.

We’ve got very high unemployment right now. Despite this, the concern is for how much we want to put out an illegal alien. Who gives a darn about how put out unemployed U. S. Citizens are?

And this person wants to be my leader? Clueless...

This seals the fact for me that no real conservative has a prayer of a chance. The GOP is back at fooling us again with words.

It stands to figure that the GOP will continue its leftward ways because they will be defunct unless they pander to the hispanics and other groups. Those groups want the free stuff.

RINO Central is in full gear. They need the conservative vote so they will lie and twist words to gain our trust.

Then they will stab us in the back. Just like our newly minted conservative icon Juan McCain./s

Country first my ass.

“I believe she is dead serious about securing the border and establishing an environment where the vast majority of those remaining inside our borders self deport.”

Okay, without talking about her obfuscating in this interview....then are we to disregard everything she’s said in the past....no deportations,no workplace raids, must be ‘humane’, blah, blah, I agree with McCain.....

If so, all you are telling me is that Palin is happy to lie when it suits her/McCain.

Some consistency coming out of her would be NICE. And that is what is lacking.

You all are ‘believing’ yourselves into amnesty and the loss of our sovereignty. Too much is at stake for blind ‘belief’ in ANY politician.

Those that do register will not be rewarded for their breaking the law she says...but is not clear on exactly what she would do with them.

Can you say 'amnesty'? I knew that you could.

I disagree. She made it very clear in this interview there would be no amnesty and no reward.

And the purpose of the registration is...?

RE :”I believe she’s referring to having them register as resident aliens. That begs the question, “What for?” The only reason would be to legitimize them and extend to them a pathway to citizenship.

That is what I mean, registering them to vote :) For $1000 yet. Will they vote for capital gains tax cuts or free government run health care....??? I wonder (head hurting this is so hard to figure out !)

Our current green card system stinks now(lets in the wrong people) . But bypassing it would make it worse. We need stricter requirements.

“She made it very clear in this interview there would be no amnesty and no reward”

Jeff....she has said in the past that amnesty and ‘path to legalization is NOT the same thing...it IS! You get her to define ‘amnesty’ and then talk to me. John McCain says he was NEVER for ‘amnesty’....they lie.

Palin is playing word games with you all and you are falling for it hook, line and sinker. You’re better than that.

THIS bears repeating. It is this simple
“Self deportation IS the answer.
There was no need for a massive government program to get these people here and there is no need for a massive government program to get them to leave. They came on their own and they will leave on their own when what they came here for is no longer made available to them; jobs.

Hit the employers such that illegal labor is no longer an economic incentive (heck, in some regions of the USA it is competitively an economic imperative) and employers will no longer hire illegal labor.

Enforce the laws we have. Track down SS #’s. Fine employers for hiring illegals.

When the jobs go, they will go.

This is not complex and the idea of the government rounding up millions of people is ludicrous and unnecessary! “

In areas where there has been enforcement of employers illegals do leave. Right now they move to other cities or states but if they could not find jobs they would leave and take their 10 kids who have been sucking at the taxpayer teat with them.

Too bad many including GOP Pols don’t have to guts to just say, enforce our employer laws

Thanks for the ping, Onyx. I wonder when some posters are going to be honest and just get together an ‘anti-Palin’ ping list. I know it exists. I guess it’s like admitting you’re a lib. Embarrassing.

That’s a matter of federal will—not a reason to perpetuate the anchor baby system, as suggested.

“Sarah is the most open, honest and effective candidate to come on the scene in my lifetime.”

If that’s the case, we are royally screwed. She hasn’t been honest about this issue and has straddled both sides of the fence. Which is it?

Slavery? That is nonsense.

1. Secure the Border.

2. Enact jail terms for anyone knowingly hiring an illegal.

3. Pass laws revoking citizenship for anchor babies.

4. Pass laws forbidding paying ANY public monies or services for illegals.

5. Pass legislation that, after a 90 day grace period, any illegal caught in the US will be PERMANENTLY barred from re-entereing the US.

Do that and 99.9% of the illegals will self-deport.

Hey, I’m on your regular Palin ping list. I’ve probably been among the top-10 pro-Palin posters here. You’re right the other major candidates are mush on this also. But I don’t think we can afford to ignore the issue and just support candidates based on other criteria.

I think Palin’s honest and forthright about 95% of the time, which is darned impressive for a pol. But when she’s ducking and weaving like this it is very telling. She told Greta a couple of months ago that there’s no distance between her and McCain on illegal immigration, and so far all I really see is an evolving difference in rhetoric, not substance.

I think we can and should hold her to a higher standard than that 1) because she’s still formulating her public position on the issue, 2) I’m hoping and thinking she may be our next president, and 3) I think a stronger position will actually improve her chances of becoming president.

Do I care about Romney and Newt’s sorry positions on immigration? Even if one of them becomes the nominee I think Obama beats them, so really their positions are of no practical meaning.

My view is that she’s by far the best prospective leader we have, but she is still way out to lunch on this issue. She needs to toughen up and be direct with her toughened up position.

Thanks for the summary, Jeff.

Unfortunately, her ideas appear mainly to be sound-bites aimed at her loyal base; they're not particularly practical, and not always legal.

For example, she plans to require illegal aliens already here to register themselves, and if they don't she'll track them down.

Also, she plans to use the National Guard in some capacity, with "clear mission and Rules of Engagement." Such deployments are probably illegal, however, under the Posse Comitatus Act and other bothersome laws.

I note that (in your summary, anyway) she doesn't address the demand side of the problem (i.e., employers). Nor does she propose any legislative solutions aimed at entitlements for non-citizens.

And, as you note, her "rewards for those who register" proposal is problematic without further detail.

It's eyewash.

Excellent break down. Thanks for setting the record straight.

“There’s a lot of specific, hard hitting stuff in there...much more specific than most of the other potential major candidates....”

EXACTLY!

And I have no problem with a work program if done correctly. Given the amount of detail she DOES provide I can forgive her that she has not worked out every single facet...but like you said...she’s light years ahead of the others.

God bless her.

Forgot to finish a thought:

For example, she plans to require illegal aliens already here to register themselves, and if they don't she'll track them down.

How will we know that an illegal has not registered? Heck, we can't even track them down now.

And in practical terms, the "registration" idea will inevitably end up requiring all of us to register; and it almost certainly to some form of national ID.

” This seals the fact for me that no real conservative has a prayer of a chance. The GOP is back at fooling us again with words. “

Rumors are that the RINOS in the GOP are trying to hurt the gal running against Reid in Nevada.

” RINO Central is in full gear. They need the conservative vote so they will lie and twist words to gain our trust.

Then they will stab us in the back. Just like our newly minted conservative icon Juan McCain./s “

The deck appears stacked against conservatives.
