ALTON, Ill. -- An unruly mob lured emergency personnel to a housing complex near St. Louis with reports of a blaze, a shooting and other crimes, then attacked them with fireworks and bottle rockets, authorities said.

Back when I was in high school we used to build “bunkers” at the beach and then engage in our own wars with bottle rockets....big deal!
I would burn the entire building down and then roll the trucks. This way they fire crews can put out the fire and the cops can see any idiots taking potshots.

When they say “near St. Louis” my mind reaches back to the one time I was ever in East St. Louis, IL, in 1984. Here it was, nearly 2 decades after the urban riots of the 1960’s - and there were still burned up, boarded up and abandoned buildings from those riots (wrapped in a lovely perimeter of rusty chain link fence. I’m sure that Detroit is giving it a run for its money today - but this was one of the worst and most blighted places I had ever seen.
Just a poor bunch of misunderstood disadvantaged ‘yoots’.

We used to have apple fights with the neighbor kids two yards over where we’d hide behind cardboard boxes and try to nail each other with these giant apples from our neighbor’s tree. When you got hit with one of those things, you knew it.

Heard this on Fox this morning. Public housing. Imagine that. Maybe next time someone there really needs the fire dept. or police, they might not show up.

I’m deeply saddened that our firefighters are now seen by a segment of our “society” as nothing more than entertainment.
Just how disfunctional does it have to get before this kind of insanity is stopped?
Oh, I know. Since the perps are residents of a public housing complex, they’re not responsible for their bizarre behavior and must be excused...
