We don’t need kids or God...we have the government, it sustains us in most ways...
Having children used to be almost a universal desire among both sexes.
Whatever is causing this new morality, I think it is generally a bad thing. Of course each person should be free to do what they want but I think it is often a sign of selfishness among whichever spouse does not want children.
To each his own......but my children and now grandchildren are the light of my life. I pray for them every single day.
Good points. Besides I have enough inheritable problems that I would not want anyone else to have to go through.
Not everyone is meant to have kids. And a lot of people only do so only because they’re “supposed” to. I think the worst possible thing is to have kids if they don’t really want them. Besides, there are too many people in the world already, and I’m sick to death of all these stupid women just popping out kid after kid because the rest of their koffee klatch does it.
I never wanted to have kids because I’ve been a type 1 diabetic for nearly 40 years and doing that could’ve really wrecked my health also did not want to pass it to another generation. I also never really had the desire to even hold a baby let alone want to have one of my own. Just was never something that I or hubby wanted to do.
Amen! That is 2 of us. :) I’ve been married 24 years. Neither of us really ever had the desire to reproduce.
I find it offensive, beyond belief, the horrid assumption by some that I have either aborted my children or that I am so repulsive that no one would choose to procreate with me.
I guess some have no idea how blessed they are that getting pregnant is NOT an issue for them.
then you are not one of the five are you.
I suspect that a good marriage is built on love and commitment.
On the other hand, I can't even imagine a world where my, now, adult kids don't live. What an odd place. Yikes!
exactly! Its already become such a socially acceptable idea that it “takes two people working to be able to survive”
So people get married and work two jobs JUST TO BE ABLE TO AFFORD A HALF WAY DECENT HOUSE IN A SAFE NEIGHBORHOOD. And to have two half way decent vehicles a vacation once a year and just the basics that our parents had in the 50’s with one job and kids.
Everything costs more, people are paid less and job security is non existant.
I have three children but if i had to do it now would I? maybe not. If its the choice between have children and spend the best years of your life exhausted and poverty stricken or not have children and enjoy your life?
Sad but oh so true.
“To each his own......but my children and now grandchildren are the light of my life. I pray for them every single day.”
I could not agree more, Texan!
So far, we can afford 5 of them on one salary that is not in the 6 figure range. We homeschool them, too. It’s all a matter of setting priorities. Having a large family is important to us. Having nice new cars and flat screen TV’s isn’t. I’m being very general here and I’m not trying to judge those that choose not to have kids.
you have distorted thinking
I find your reply to be absolutely horrid. Too many people in the world already? Are you kidding me? Are you sure you are in the right place here? I’ll continue to “pop out kid after kid” as long as God and my body allow it.
American children face a very bleak future...
“And to have two half way decent vehicles a vacation once a year and just the basics that our parents had in the 50s with one job and kids.”
I don’t know of many families that had two cars in the 50’s. They also didn’t have all the electronics that we do now. Many women made clothes for their families. The “basics” of families in the 50’s would be considered poverty by today’s standards. I think that is really sad.
