I don't think people were trying to lump you in with the Paris Hiltons of the world -- except that, once they called you on that "birth control is God's greatest gift" line, and you squawked about out...in the *way* you did, instead of leading off with your health issues...well, it left an impression.

Let me regale you with a story. There was a famous cartoonist in World War II named Bill Mauldin. He fought in Europe and wrote the Willie and Joe cartoons, illustrating the war from the infantryman's point of view.

He would occasionally, without naming names, make oblique criticisms of the Army brass, or the bureaucracy, in his cartoons.

When he got in trouble for it, he replied, "I just build a shoe. If somebody wants to put it on and loudly announce that it fits, that's their business."

If you moderate your response, you might not get so much heat in return.

Not directly, but FReepers are smart enough to know that support for legal contraception must needs lead to support for “safe, legal and rare” killing of the unborn. Always has, always will.

I hate to sound like I'm supporting Bill Clinton here on FR, but I think Monica Lewinsky might beg to differ ;-)
