The pain he felt when the bullets entered his heart is nothing compared to the pain of the judgement he receives from his creator.

What?????

In your lexicon, "judge not, lest ye be judged."

Moreover...and perhaps more to the point, are you absolutely certain that he did not ask for....and receive...forgiveness just before the shots?

Let’s say it was a .30-06 caliber rifle. If you put 150 grains of sand in the cartridge, it would expel the same mass as a 150 grain bullet. You’d have to fiddle with it to account for the mass of the wads used to seal the cartridge, the different powder charge mass, and the velocity, but a competent reloader could do it in one or two trips to the range.

Loved True Grit, though my first introduction to Ft. Smith was the old Clint Eastwood classic Hang Em High which was one of those bargain drive-in movies for the whole family back when I was a little kid.

I still think the best movie scene of all time is where John Wayne takes on those four bag guys in the meadow after they refuse his offer to surrender.

You probably know than a mere decade or so of Judge Parker and his predecessor's consistent enforcement was what turned Fort Smith from one of the wildest and roughest towns in its day to one of the nicest safest towns by the turn of the century. Even back then, conservative policies worked.
