$7-a-gallon gas?
NY Post ^ | June 18, 2010 | BEN LIEBERMAN

President Obama has a solution to the Gulf oil spill: $7-a-gallon gas.

That's a Harvard University study's estimate of the per-gallon price of the president's global-warming agenda. And Obama made clear this week that this agenda is a part of his plan for addressing the Gulf mess.

So what does global-warming legislation have to do with the oil spill?

Good question, because such measures wouldn't do a thing to clean up the oil or fix the problems that led to the leak.

The answer can be found in Obama Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel's now-famous words, "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste -- and what I mean by that is it's an opportunity to do things that you think you could not do before."

$10 would be even better. It would make Obama windmills and solar panels more competitive. Obama could then usher in the age of Fred Flintstone and Barney. Liberals if given everything they want, will devolve us back to the Stone Age.

This has nothing to do with the oil spill.

At this point, it’s about diverting attention away from the spill even more so than passing his agenda. But he’ll try to hit two birds with one stone here.

Yeah... libs are truly clueless.

Lets try $7 a gallon gas, with 10% unemployment, 17% underemployment. People still facing layoffs. Record foreclosures and banks tightening lines of credit. All the while the threat of a double dip staring us and Europe in the face.

Yeah... go ahead, lets try $7 a gallon gas.

the left must really want a revolution in this country.

It is even worse than the picture you paint.

No only would you have unemployment in the 20% range, but those who would be employed would be seriously restricted as to where they work and under what conditions.

I am old enough to remember the factory towns where the workers lived across the street from the plant or within walking distance. They kept what little money they had in the company owned bank and bought at the company store.

The advent of the practical automobile and cheap fuel enabled the worker to take a job in a town 25 miles or more away. That gave him the bargaining power he needed to improve his lot in life or in most cases, change his profession.

Obummer, the Marxist now posing as a Fascist, has as his eventual goal, returning the working man to those days.

It is not our money but our freedom that is at stake.

That's what is being set up again to do - isn't it?

America is turning into a company town...this time it's the government that's the company; it's one big huge company town.

Excellent Analogy!

Yeah, good luck with that. The $4/gallon we had 2 years ago helped to push us into recession. Anything over $5 will guarantee a double dip, with the dip being a lot worse than before. $7/gal gas would guarantee a depression.

And America can't afford $7-a-gallon gas.

Peak Oil is going to provide $7 gas by 2020 no matter what kind of legislation is passed.
Despite Joe Barton's apologies, even the Stupid Party was smart enough to figure that out.
"Drill Baby Drill" is off the table no matter what.
Peak Oil hits us sooner instead of later.
Time to get off our butts and build more electric passenger rail systems.
Those little battery powered Obamamobiles won't be worth crap on the Interstates, especially during winter in the cold northern states.

I hope he does it. The faithful have to have their faith irreparably broken and obama is the right man for that job.

His base and the people who only pay attention to politics when they are affected in some way have to feel real pain AND blame obama for causing it.

The secret to liberal/progressive success is picking an enemy to blame for their screwing something up and/or us over and have people buy into it.

The msm is always at the ready to spread "the official story" and the republicans, GWB especially, have been their remarkably reliable and adept kicking dummies. And here we are.

I sense the tide is turning a bit, but is it too little, too late? The danger of what obama is doing and the pain that's coming is real.

Sorry. The restaurants where I live are still WAY too full on weekends for me to call this a Depression. When the Best Buy and Olive Garden shut down, then its a Depression.
