I'm glad that there's a happy ending to this story,
but the stupid little bimbo should never have embarked on such a treacherous journey to begin with.

Unless they can take it on board they will probably sink it as a hazard to navigation,

salvage per laws of the sea, eh?

I would bet this particular publicity-seeking family will make an effort to recover the hull as long as it is afloat and can possibly be recovered.

They can pay the costs from the book or movie that wlll be made about this voyage

A spokesperson for the family has already indicated that they expect the yacht to be so badly damaged, it needs to be sunk.

But how would she and her parents got the attention of the entire world??? Balloon Boy was much cheaper, and his parents got in big trouble... Short of a ticker-tape parade, this girl and her parents are going to receive a hero's welcome, interviews, book deal and probably a movie.

WHORE-AL-DO had a good piece on O'riley last night.
The parents should be charged with child abuse.
The vessel was in such bad shape there was no way it could make it. They knew this and sent her anyway. . . . .Shame on them.

I have real mixed feelings about this one, best expressed by saying, “I’m happy that the selfish little b!tch was rescued before she drowned”.

... and I’d like to wring her parents’ necks.

Yeah there are a couple of levels here but I wouldn't put the kid in the same category as the parents. 16 year olds can be very naive and dreamy (a step or two outside of reality) in a way that is natural to them. What kids regard as doable and possible is wildly out there but if the “adults” in their life are goading them along to challenge the dragon as seems to be the case here then the “parents” are on a level of selfishness and dispicability all their own’

This young lady may one day become very angry with the two people who let her go out on this lunatic adventure. One day she will realize the difference between 16 years old and, say, 25 years. One day she will understand the seasoning that years equal to the age her parents are now should give.

Her parents showed contempt for the Dragon and that is something that true and serious adventurers never do.

Seems some people here are annoyed that she was found.

Pathetic human beings, IMHO.

What was the bill that Klinton racked up looking for JFK Jr.? A private citizen. Even sent out the Navy. The Coast Guard I can understand. But the Navy?

The builder says the vessel is unsinkable.

To all those who do not recognize the courage and spirit of this young lady and her family, you should be ashamed. I’ve been on a few of these threads, now and I can no longer stomach the vitriol spewed forth by some of you folks. Conservatives? Not so much, here.

Were the parents criticized when their son accomplished his trip??

Nothing matters...except the young lady is "safe".

P.S. Kids have been kidnapped on their way to school, in parks, in stores...

It’s not unburnable.

It would actually be very hard to sink by holing it, but burning it to the waterline would work.
