Is it Sestak-gate? Evidence mounts that there's been a job-offer coverup
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette ^ | June 6, 2010 | By Jack Kelly

The White House and Rep. Joe Sestak agree: Joe Sestak, Pennsylvania's Democratic nominee for the U.S. Senate, is a buffoon.

For months, the White House stonewalled inquiries about whether Mr. Sestak had been offered a federal job in exchange for dropping his challenge to Sen. Arlen Specter in Pennsylvania's Democratic primary.

Mr. Sestak won the Pennsylvania primary in part because his reputation for candor (apparently undeserved) contrasted favorably with Mr. Specter's blatant careerism. But if Mr. Sestak wasn't lying in February, he is lying now, or so the evidence suggests.

If the facts were as the White House now claims, why not reveal them then? That would have put the controversy to rest before it began, and -- by revealing Mr. Sestak as a gross exaggerator -- would have given a boost to Mr. Specter, their favored candidate in the Democratic primary.

By releasing its statement at the start of the Memorial Day weekend, the Obama administration hoped this issue would fade away.

But as Mr. Nixon could have told Mr. Obama, it isn't the crime that does you in. It's the cover-up.

I wonder if Specter has had anything to say since the loss ? I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he followed Crist with independent run.

The MSM has declared this story dead. Time to move on.

Corruption and law breaking only matter when Conservatives do it.

I believe there are enormous pay-offs even now - to keep their mouths shut. Wonder when the mysterious deaths will begin to occur?

I don’t think Specter would have the financial resources for a run as independent. And electing an independent in this state is next to impossible. In fact, electing a Republican isn’t all that easy.

Of course Sestak is lying. Why else would he allow thw White House to make up the story and then swear to it.

He took a shot and told of an offer that was made him, it helped him get the primary election.

Now he is in the primary, he cannot and will not be accepted by the Democrats unless he helps them hide Obama’s guilt. So he goes along with this phony concoction by the White House.

There is but one thing the people of Pennsylvania can do and that is to elect his Republican opponent.

Let’s see if they have the political wisdom to do so. If they dont we get another lying POS in that seat.

Of course we all know that Barrys’ definition of “transparent” means you can’t see it.

“I wonder if Specter has had anything to say since the loss ?”

I think that kind of horse-trading is allowed under Scottish Law.

I would imagine that anything in writing regarding the Sestak offer that was in the White House’s possession has long since been destroyed. Where the Romanoff bribe differs is that Romanoff has some actual evidence (emails). The White House could destroy their copies, but Romanoff still has his. Good move on his part.

Specter came up with the Magic Bullet theory all those years ago, and his career has been his reward. He knows where LOTS of bodies are buried.

I’ll be he even knows about any bodies buried “out past Teralingua” as the man said in “Shooter” the movie. Great movie. Worth having. So’s “The Kingdom,” even if the guy who played the Jewish FBI agent is a schmuck whiner.

The PG is very much a leftist paper, but it has carried Kelly’s column every Sunday for a lot of years. It makes for interesting reading of the letters to the editor starting on Monday.

Yes, but Specter is a very old and sick man. He is propped up by handlers and pain meds. His peeps (who want to keep their jobs) may want him to run, but Specter is dying. He will just fade away.

Sestak’s always been a buffoon. I’ve been having to deal with him since 2006. I can’t wait until he is GONE.
