Obama blasts BP: 'We will bring those responsible to justice'
The Hill ^ | 6/01/10 | Sam Youngman

President Barack Obama on Tuesday used the strongest language yet to suggest that BP could face charges in connection with the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon rig and the resulting oil spill, saying if any laws were broken, “my solemn pledge is that we will bring those responsible to justice.”

The president met Tuesday morning with former Democratic Sen. Bob Graham (Fla.) and William Reilly, the Republican former head of the Environmental Protection Agency, the co-chairmen of a bipartisan commission tasked with exploring the causes of the disaster and safeguards for future offshore drilling.

“If our laws were broken, leading to this death and destruction, my solemn pledge is that we will bring those responsible to justice," Obama said from the White House Rose Garden.

It's a foreign flag vessel operating in international waters. The rig is owned by a foreign company, Transocean. The drilling operations are operated by British Petroleum with subcontracts to Halliburton. It's an international enterprise. Obama was making noises about putting BP into "receivership" as if he has the power to seize a foreign corporation.

“If our laws were broken, leading to this death and destruction, my solemn pledge is that we will bring those responsible to justice,"

From what I've read, BP had full sign off from MMS on everything they did, so...meaningless...blather from the teleprompter. What can be learned from this is that government should only be in charge of as little as possible because it is incapable of chewing gum and walking simultaneously. Thus, it needs to get the heck out of health care before it actually tries to do something there.

I can already hear the wheels in Rahm’s head turning. Mark my words, they’ll find some bureaucratic Bush flunky to pin the blame on and then rail against Republicans in the upcoming elections. You watch, they’ll say this was all the result of Republicans being in control and they’ll leverage this for all the political mileage the corrupt MSM will allow.

“If our laws were broken, leading to this death and destruction, my solemn pledge is that we will bring those responsible to justice,”

Translation: All info on this case will be handed over to Eric Holder. Scapegoats will be selected and prosecuted via the public media.

What’s next? I always wondered how a coup (Obama prounciation would include the p) of our government would happen. The speed of this attempted takeover is surprising. I only hope we can somehow stop this before we have all out war.

While the BP oil geyser pumps millions of gallons of petroleum into the Gulf of Mexico, President Barack Obama and members of Congress may have to answer for the millions in campaign contributions they’ve taken from the oil and gas giant over the years.

BP and its employees have given more than $3.5 million to federal candidates over the past 20 years, with the largest chunk of their money going to Obama, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. Donations come from a mix of employees and the company’s political action committees — $2.89 million flowed to campaigns from BP-related PACs and about $638,000 came from individuals.

Is there any avoiding of that eventuality?

They insist on enslaving us, we insist on being free.

We both are willing to use force to get our way.

If you guys make space for a couple of Black Panthers in your board room,

How far must BP go? They already have a bunch of Obama's staff on their board.

You hit the nail on the head. And that idiot in the oval office is in way over his.

Crisis leadership calls for you to stop the damage first and foremost. Then find out if the problem was due to systemic or human failure. Rolling heads come only after steps one and two. I really wish we had one grown up dealing with this awful mess somewhere in the fed government.

One has to wonder if this disaster is not exactly according to The Barking Obama’s plan. His shysters in blackrobes and ties will see this as an opportunity to rape and pillage the oil industry and set the stage for Hussein to hijack another industry.

.how about criminally investigate YOUR OWN agency(ies), such as Elizabeth Birnbaum of MMS,

The investigation would conclude this way: "The MMS was not doing anything different than the President. 'Exceptions' and 'Waivers' are the rule of the day.

For instance, the WH appointing former and current lobbyists to government positions.
