SNIPPET: "An Aeromexico plane flying to Mexico City from Paris had to land late Sunday afternoon at Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport in Montreal to remove a passenger whose name is on the U.S. no-fly list, Radio-Canada reported.
The man was escorted out of the plane and taken into custody by the RCMP."

Hat Tip: Freeper Velveeta.
BTTT
He should have been stopped before boarding, but I expect much.
He would have crossed our southern border very soon.
Thank you for the bump Jet Jaguar.
bump
Thanks Velveeta.
You’re right on top of things.

Wong Wei
I don’t understand your post?
Got the direction wrong. Diverting it before approaching the U.S. makes sense.
Not these days, but thanks for the hat tip.
It's my first day off in a loooooong time and I'll never catch up with the posts and pings, but I'll give it my best. ;-)
LOL.
Yes, Wong Wei.
Funny! hehee
LOL!!

“Aeromexico flight from Paris to Mexico diverted to Montreal following security incident”

MONTREAL, CANADA (BNO NEWS)
SNIPPET: “Aeromexico flight 06, operated by a Boeing 767-300, was diverted to Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport after being denied access to U.S. airspace, a source told BNO News. One person who may have been on the no-fly list was taken into custody aboard the plane, the source said.
A witness on board the plane, Mexican senator Francisco Javier Castellon, said the passenger arrested was an Arab-looking man and was on seat 23H.”
Cindy, you have shocked me with this news.
/s, ;-)
“Arab-looking”... well GOOOLLLY! What a shock!
Well, it’s breaking news...the story can completely change in a heartbeat.
Fer sure.
Why is it called a no-fly list when the people on it keep flying?
Pssst, Senator. We're not supposed to notice how he looks. We'll have to toss that statement down the memory hole.
The good senator isn't from AZ, he's from Mexico.... so he can profile all he wants to. LOL!
Aackk!!! Racial profiling!!!!
‘A witness on board the plane, Mexican senator Francisco Javier Castellon, said the passenger arrested was an Arab-looking man and was on seat 23H.
That’s racist. Racial profiling.
Oh, no, an American didn’t say it so , it’s o.k....right? Right?
good post, as usual.
Shame on him, why is he profiling didn’t his President just give the USA a tongue lashing over an AZ law to check status if you are in the act of a crime.
seat 23H .... right over the wing section .. I hope they probe him real good.
I am really failing to understand that in this day and age ... HOW THE HELL DOES ANYONE ON THE NO-FLY LIST GET ON A PLANE????????

SNIPPET: “It remains unclear how the individual was able to board the aircraft, which took off from Paris earlier in the day and was en route to Mexico.
The remaining passengers were all asked to deplane and were searched. The aircraft then resumed its trip.”
Thank you gaijin.
THANK YOU Norm.
I was wondering where that seat location was.
At least it wasn't 29A!

I see the right wing side still has no idea of where they are or what's going on. charlestailor writes "Personally I would sooner have someone on a no fly list OFF my plane before we headed out over the Atlantic. " The article clearly says they were going from Paris to Mexico city. Now I guess that if we listened to the Americans who think it makes sense to land in Montreal when flying from France to Mexico, then we can understand how Mr. Right Wing thinks the Atlantic will be crossed after you get to Montreal rather than after. I have a real problem with the Americans controling who flys where when their country isn't a starting point or destination. Also wy are we their dumping ground. Montreal is definantly not on the way from France to Mexico.
PS please dont bother pointing out to me that there are flights that take round about ways to places and not in a straight line. the article says that it had to land there so it was not "on the way".
>> HOW THE HELL DOES ANYONE ON THE NO-FLY LIST GET ON A PLANE????????
Next time you’re at the airport, take a careful look at the Rhodes scholars manning the TSA checkpoints. Eavesdrop on their wide range of conversational topics — intellectual “security oriented” stuff like: “who’s on break”, “when am I gonna get my break?”, “Alfonso been on break all damn afternoon!”, “dang, it’s only three PM!”, and other highly technical topics pertinent to our nation’s first line of defense against terrorism.
Then check back in and we’ll see if you’ve gotten the picture.
:-)
Recently I was stopped by two TSA agents. First agent askes why I had bacon bits, “You planning on making a salad?”
“Nope. It’s for terrorists.”
Second agent says “What does bacon have to to with terrorism???”
First agent gives him a ‘you idiot’ look...
Was
'Tiz not your royal bottoms ensconced in a seat in that aircraft. Not you breaking out in a sweat
Like one Canadian said, he did not want to be flying with a "no fly" passenger. The know it alls jumped on him.
At one point the aircraft may have had more of the Atlantic ocean to cross. I hope that the Mounties (who have had a bad Canadian press lately) find out something really valuable.
LMAO!
They get LOTS of practice giving each other that “you idiot” look.
Passing through security is like watching Three Stooges reruns.
How many are already here who crossed the Mexican border?
We are such chumps to allow terrorists to walk right into our country.
sounds like Mexican senator Francisco Javier Castellon is guilty of profiling.
A diversion to Montreal is a little odd, they often stop in Labrador for fuel, but perhaps Montreal had better security than Goose Bay or wherever they'd land in Labrador or Nova Scotia.
But diverting to Montreal is not that far off their nominal flight path. Would it be better for the plane to have been taken over and then "diverted" to New York City, which of course is also pretty nearly on the flight path, as is Washington DC.

“Man arrested on warrant after flight diverted”
By DOUGLASS K. DANIEL (AP) 56 minutes ago
SNIPPET: “WASHINGTON An Aeromexico flight from Paris to Mexico City was diverted to Montreal on Sunday when the U.S. denied the flight access to its airspace after a man named in an outstanding warrant was reported aboard, an official said.”
Thing is, not only would I rather watch the Stooges, but I stand less chance of getting blown up if a Stooges rerun goes wrong.
This puts to rest the criticism of the diversion by persons who sit comfortably with their computer and armchair quarter back. Those saying the plane should have flown on and let the Americans deal with it. The man could have gone beserk in the interim, for all anyone knew. He was got to the point of safety as quickly as possible.
To be followed with some interest. The authorities did right. Kudos to them.
CTV (Canada) reports “that a detention hearing will take place in the next 48 hrs”. Some passengers said he claimed he was a Somali. Others gave conflicting views.
