Congressional Democrats reached an agreement Monday with the White House and possibly the Pentagon on a key legislative step toward repealing the "don't ask, don't tell" policy that bars openly gay soldiers from the military.

In a letter to President Obama obtained by CNN, three congressional sponsors of legislation to repeal the policy outlined the proposed agreement that would set contingencies based on completion of a military review of the matter already under way and subsequent final approval from the president and military leaders.

Specifically, the proposed agreement calls for repeal to become final only after completion of the military review expected by the end of 2010, followed by a review certification from Obama, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Adm. Mike Mullen.

Republicans ought to insist on a repeal of the health care reform bill as a condition for repeal of DADT.

There goes the "volunteer" armed forces, and the espirit de corps of the ones who are already serving.

If this passes, I know I wouldn't even consider joining.

I dont know who will take over America first. The Mexicans, the Muslims, or the faggots.

Suffice to say the future doesnt look good for the straight anglo-saxon community. Where do we run?

No. How about they grow a spine and don't compromise? How many times do we have to get burned before the Great Obsolete Party wakes up and realizes they'll get back-stabbed again? Repealing 0Care should be a sperate issue entirely. In fact we shouldn't even have DADT. It should be "Don't Join Homo."

Right now, the Feds can’t get a grip on the Gulf Oil Spill, the NORK’s have torpedoed a SK ship, Iran is nuking up, fiscal economic crisis is swamping Europe. Are we focused or working on any of these issues? Hell no. Our priorities are focused on getting gays in the military, raising taxes, and who will be at the Andrews AFB gym at 2pm today for the daily pickup basketball game.

So now, if a soldier grabs another soldiers crotch while sleeping in the barracks, you don't report it to your superiors. You just beat him to a pulp and declare you were assaulted. If hes bigger than you, you just wait for an “accident” to happen so you can end it. With all those weapons, it shouldn't take long.

And if its a mutual ball grab, everyone can laugh while watching them hump away. They can be sent on suicide missions.

This will work its self out among the ranks. They wont need another law from the senate after they allow gays to join.

Yeah. Wait till gay couples start moving into base housing. That’ll do wonders for recruiting and retention.

I believe this is much ado about nothing. Queers/faggots in the Men's army/navy/etc are pretty much self eliminating.

Anyone here know what a rack party is?

We need equal rights for those of us who are openly normal and don’t want to be around queers.

I suspect our armed forces will be self-policing to deal with this issue.
