I have a right to my opinion just as much as you. I say he was an enemy of the US and many here at FR would agree.
I respect your service but that doesn’t mean I give up my rights.
Okay, you jarheads ;o), let’s not forget the reason for this thread.
A very brave young woman is in need of prayers and support. I lift them up for her healing, strength, courage and joy in the Lord in whatever he allows into her life.
I am asking you to take a step back and get some perspective.
Darn few of us are all good or all bad. Weigh in the balance the positive with the negative.
Murtha was everything I said he was. He was a mean blowhard. He had less than sterling character. He was the king of the earmarks. He prejudged those Marines and added credibility to the antiwar Democratic leadership (now there ARE some enemies) by virtue of having served. It was the crassest form of opportunistic political pandering.
Yet over his thirty years of Congressional service, he also made sure that the armed forces had all the funding they needed to be equipped and trained as the world's premier fighting force. From the reports I have read, he especially looked after the very Marine Corps he condemned when the initial news about the Haditha “massacre” broke. That has to count for something.
As I hinted at earlier, I suspect he probably regretted those hasty words but lacked the courage to take them back. Having a tough guy reputation will do that to a man sometimes; box him in and prevent him from doing the right thing even when he should.
Well, that's about all I have to say.
It's nearly 1:00 AM here and I have to work in the morning.
Good night.
Thanks, and, yes, praying for her.
Prayers Up!
Here is my perspective. Murtha was a scumbag traitor and I am damn glad he’s dead. I can’t make it plainer than that.
Prayers up!
You are right and I do hope you pulls through this.
God has certainly sent this young girl more than her share of challenges for one so young. I hope she has been chosen for a reason. Perhaps there will be a St. Rifqa some day.
I didn’t wish Murtha dead and I don’t wish him to burn in hell but as a Marine and a Christian, I’m totally disgusted and repulsed by what he was. The fruit is the test. His fruit was rotten.
Bringing him into this thread was a mistake. There are no similarities between that disgusting jerk and this innocent girl.
Prayers up, for Rifqa and for this thread.
Lord grant your healing power to her in Jesus name.
Well Marine, there was no comparison made between Jack Murtha and Rifqa Bary made in my original post.
My comment was focused on persons who will pray to God with evil intent asking for Him to do harmful things to people they don’t like.
The most that scriptures allow a believer to ask or say is “The Lord rebuke you,” and then leave the matter to the Almighty.
Beyond that is the territory of sin. And I must confess it is a border easily crossed over as I find myself wandering there on nearly a daily basis.
Semper Fi
It seems rather odd that you would even bring his filthy name into a thread that could not remotely be connected to him in any way that I can conceive, other than the two of them are both children of God. Maybe Hitler’s name should have been brought in, too.
No doubt.Islam is pure evil.
