Arpaio calls on Arizonans to boycott Mexico
Reported by: Associated Press
Last Update: 2:37 pm

PHOENIX -- Upset by an ad placed in a Phoenix newspaper, Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is calling on Arizonans to avoid traveling to Mexico.

The ad, a half page full-color advertisement appearing in the Friday edition of The Arizona Republic, featured a military looking man gazing through binoculars with words proclaiming, "We are looking for people from Arizona."

In a news release issued by his office, Arpaio says the ad "went well beyond being irresponsible, it appears to threaten Arizonans."

Sonora Turismo spokesman Adolfo Salido in Hermosillo said only half of the ad was published Friday. The rest of the ad in Saturday's paper included the caption "In Sonora, we are looking for people from Arizona who want to have a great time." The ad pictured people on the beach, having fun.

Arizona should boycott both California and Mexico. I wish that Arizona had cut off the electricity to California. That would have been so righteous and it would have put California in its place. California’s ego is like that of Hollywood and that’s why it needs to be knocked down occasionally and what better way to do it than by one of its neighboring states who insulted it and all its citizens (except for the illegal ones).

We need to show more sympathy for these people.
* They travel miles in the heat.
* They risk their lives crossing a border.
* They don’t get paid enough wages.
* They do jobs that others won’t do or are afraid to do.
* They live in crowded conditions among a people who speak a different language.
* They rarely see their families, and they face adversity all day ~ every day.

I’m not talking about illegal Mexicans. I’m talking about our troops! Doesn’t it seem strange that many Democrats and Republicans are willing to lavish all kinds of social benefits on illegals, but don’t support our troops, and are even threatening to defund them?

If you wish, pass this on. It is worth the short time it takes to read it.

We’ll, duh... That explains everything. Obviously the mexicans think we’re that stupid because until Arizonans threw down the bulls**t glove, that’s the way we acted.

I lived in Costa Mesa most of my life. I’m now proud to say that! Greg

Are we boycotting Costa Mesa, now? What about the Trader Joes Market…are they OK? Or, Deitrich’s Coffee? I’m confused. Pass the Advil, I’ve got a headache! Tom
Costa Mesa CA, Takes Stand Against Illegal Immigration as Ariz. Boycott Battle Rages
A California city mere miles from the metropolis that imposed a boycott on Arizona over its immigration law has just weighed in on the other side of the debate — voting to declare itself a “Rule of Law City” where illegal immigrants are not welcome.
The decision by the Costa Mesa City Council comes after the Los Angeles City Council voted last week to suspend official travel to Arizona and end future contracts with state businesses in protest of Arizona’s immigration policy. That decision sparked a war of words between Los Angeles and Arizona officials, who this week warned the city their Arizona-based power supply could be at risk.
Several other local governments across the country have proposed or implemented similar boycotts on Arizona since the law passed last month. But Costa Mesa’s declaration puts it on the other side of the fence, as a counterweight to those jurisdictions that have declared themselves “sanctuary cities” for illegal immigrants.
Mayor Allan Mansoor told Fox News on Thursday that the “Rule of Law” resolution should “set the tone” for tougher policies to come. As Arizona officers are now empowered to do, Mansoor said Costa Mesa law enforcement should be able to ask suspects for proof of legal residency.
“It’s the right thing to do,” he said.

Los Angeles officials couldn’t disagree more. They continued to stand by their Arizona boycott after a state utility official — Arizona Corporation Commission member Gary Pierce — on Tuesday warned that state power companies would be “happy” to stop sending electricity to Los Angeles if the city really wants to cut ties. Los Angeles gets about a quarter of its electricity from the state.
But on Thursday, the Arizona official appeared to be turning down the voltage on his warning.
After intense media coverage and a fresh round of name-calling, Los Angeles and Arizona officials acknowledge that Arizona could not unilaterally sever those power contracts.
Los Angeles has an ownership stake, albeit a small one, in two Arizona power plants — one coal plant and one nuclear plant.
Austin Beutner, general manager of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, flaunted that detail in a statement Wednesday.
“We are part owner of both power plants, which are generating assets of the department,” he said. “As such, nothing in the city’s resolution is inconsistent with our continuing to receive power from those ... assets.” For good measure, the official urged convention organizers who are canceling their Arizona plans to consider the “City of Angels” as their convention destination.
Pierce spokesman John LeSueur conceded that Los Angeles would have to volunteer to abandon those power contracts before the Arizona Corporation Commission could negotiate for other customers to take their place.
“The ball is in L.A.’s court,” he said.
But LeSueur said the point his boss was trying to make is that Los Angeles benefits from Arizona and should be prepared to truly cut ties if it wants a genuine boycott.
And he said Beutner’s claim that Los Angeles is generating its own resources is bogus since the plants are still based in Arizona.

Sincerely,
Tom Waite

Hello all,

I blogged on Allan Mansoor’s “Rule of Law” Resolution which will not designate Costa Mesa as a Sanctuary City and will uphold the Federal Illegal Immigration Law of 1996. Allan is doing what he was elected to do—protect and preserve the safety of his constituents. And, with Costa Mesa bordering Santa Ana, according to the story that is highlighted in my article, Allan was very wise to do so. Please support Allan in his Assembly Race. He is the type of elected official that we need at the state level.

Even accepting the implausible idea of a two part ad, the picture projects menace and pending violence. Are they looking for vacationing zetas? We need more than a fence. We need something like the DMZ between North and South Korea.

Costa Mesa is a wonderful location for a vacation. It has a perfect climate and hotels are cheaper there than the beach cities just a few minutes away. It is also:

Right next door to Disneyland.

A few minutes from Knotts Berry Farm

Right next door to Newport Beach (beaches, surfing, boating, pier, surf, jetty, and deep sea fishing, Catalina catamaran, harbor cruise, Balboa Fun Center)

A few minutes from Huntington Beach (Surf City and dog beach)

A few minutes from Corona Del Mar (skin and scuba diving)

A short drive from Laguna Beach (skin and scuba diving)

I’m pretty sure when El Jefe Arpaio says “boycott”, he’s thinking landmines, drones and 50 calibers.

They own 5.6% of the power plant. Maybe we should give them their 5.6% in the winter.

Yes. I say that those of us who do not live in Arizona or California should boycott California.

We can start by boycotting DisneyLand near Los Angeles, and by boycotting all those cruise ships that dock in the Los Angeles harbor, one of the busiest in the country.
