HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) -- Connecticut Attorney General and U.S. Senate candidate Richard Blumenthal is defending himself against a report he misstated his military service in Vietnam.

Blumenthal's campaign on Monday night called a report on the New York Times website, which includes video of him at a 2008 event saying he had served "in Vietnam," an "outrageous distortion" on his record.

Hopefully it’s too late for him to spin out of this one.

What frauds these ‘rats are - contempt for the military, too morally superior ever to acknowledge that there are times when force is necessary in the real world, yet always ready to claim that they certainly did their part in serving in the country’s military - maybe enough voters are finally awake that this guy won’t get away with it.....

It would matter if Blumenthal wasn’t a democrat.

This is very similar to Sen Tom Harkin and his claiming to have flown missions over Vietnam.

Hey, it's another chance to play Name That Party! Let's see, if in an alternate universe Blumenthal wasn't a Democrat, this story would begin Consevative Republican law-and-order Attorney-General Richard Blumenthal (R-Whitebread), speaking just miles away from a fundamentalist evangelical megachurch, denied obvious lies about his bogus combat record ...

In a televised March debate, Blumenthal stated clearly he had not actually served in Vietnam during the conflict when asked a question about using military force in Iran.

Of course, ignoring all of the other times Blumenthal did "misspoke" this is nothing more than Democrat ass-covering by the crAP.

Blumenthal told the Times he had misspoken at the 2008 event in Norfolk in which he said he served in Vietnam.
Typical RAT politician, defending the indefensible.

Saying that you had served beginning in October 1968 when you had actually arrived in November is misspeaking. Saying that you served when you didn't serve at all is lying.

“Defending himself”??? Are you f-ing kidding me? Not even AP can spin to this extreme. Disgraceful. He lied. He has to withdraw. Period.

“Blumenthal told the Times he had misspoken at the 2008 event in Norfolk in which he said he served in Vietnam.”

My dad would whoop his butt for lying, then whoop it again, but good, for saying he “had misspoken”.

Lying is, well, lying.

I called the VFW HQ today and left comments.
I said that it was a disgrace to let him use a VFW Hall for political purposes.
