San Diego tourism leaders and hoteliers fear they could lose a sizable chunk of business this summer from valued Zonies who are so angered by elected leaders recent censure of Arizona for its illegal-immigration law that theyre mounting an informal boycott of their own.
The San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau and several hotels report receiving e-mails and letters from Arizona visitors saying they intend to change their plans to travel here in light of local outcry over their home states anti-illegal-immigration stance.

I am not going to CA and I will boycott CA wine, and I am not even from AZ.
I wuz trying to figure out where all the ‘zonians were planning to go in SD. I can see hunting, visits to Mount Rushmore and skiing in the BH. Now I learn it wuz all about going to Tijuana.
Sometimes but when I boycott "Best Buy", how do they cut me back?
Guess that Best Buy won’t be buying anything from you either :)
good.
Classic liberal thinking, not thinking through the pros (and cons) of their actions. Since everything is so “feel good” and “PC”, negative ramifications are never considered. Good for the people of Arizona.
Why boycott CA wine. Much of is made here in Central CA and we have nothing to do with LA or SF.
We can go to the O.C. instead.
INSTEAD of telling their local politicians how childish and stupid they look...??
Who is running the asylum in the Pipple's Republik...??
Since the government of San Diego is “of, by and for the people”, there is no misunderstanding here. AZ residents know what they are doing.
I boycotted Circuit City. They’re gone.
SOooo the SD Convention and Visitors Bureau emails the BOYCOTTING TRAVELERS....
—Asking THEM TO IGNORE the petty actions of their city council and government resolution...
— And come to SD anyway...???
INSTEAD of telling their local politicians how childish and stupid they look...??
Who is running the asylum in the Pipple’s Republik...??
Sounds like San Diego CVB values the rights of Illegal Aliens over the rights of American citizens.....the CVB should be after their own local government....and not blaming Arizona
Arizona stick to your guns....America is behind you. Only a few cities that like Illegals more than Americans will think of a boycott
The wife likes a few Kali wines, but no more. A few Australian ones are good, too. We’re boycotting Kali.
May I suggest this wording:
“Dear Arizona friends,
We understand and share your outrage over the City Council’s participation in the widespread effort to strangle business in your state. We are not part of this, however. We are a free enterprise business while the boycott is the work of the communist occupation authorities (aka “liberal officials”) and their lackeys in the ministry of propaganda (aka “mainstream media”). We urge you to re-consider your position and support the remaining entrepreneurs who attempt to make a living under the weight of this occupation.”
Unintended Consequences.
I canceled trip for 6 to Los Angeles. It was a board meeting. We are going to Vegas.
During the summer, SD’s freeways are filled with AZ plates. If AZ can make this stick, it will hurt SD.
“I boycotted Circuit City. Theyre gone.”
Wow, that was you? Damn!
Yep! My parents live at Sun City Grand, AZ and they told me the two places retirees like to ‘tool around’ is Vegas and San Diego. Apparently, retirees are literally holding meetings at clubhouses around Phoenix to boycott traveling to cities boycotting AZ!
Way to fight back. The welfare staters can’t win a battle of boycotts.
Lots of Phoenix residents have summer homes in SD because of the extreme Phoenix heat.
great post!
>>Wow, that was you? Damn!<

THe same folks running it in D.C. and everywhere else in the USA --DemoCRAPs and Republipukes.
So you're the one.
I boycotted K-Mart when they F'd Fuzzy Zoeller and look what happened to them.
It can work :)
You’re good.
Could you boycott Starbucks next?
That’s good.
Especially: ‘communist occupation authorities’.
Already do. Apparently it works better with some companies than with others.
Give it a decade though. :)
I’m with you. We can play their game as well or better than they can.
In my experience, this is a characteristic of liberals. They think they can pull the trigger without receiving return fire.
I know we are only joking, but in all seriousness, I learned in Business 101 that when you are buying a product you are, in a sense, voting for it. for several decades I have been consciously voting for and against companies with my dollars.
I like Chilean wines also. Stable, non-commie South American nation. Inexpensive, as well.
“Apparently, retirees are literally holding meetings at clubhouses around Phoenix to boycott traveling to cities boycotting AZ!”
That’s after they’ve censured the guy living over in unit 12, phase II for the lawn being 1/4” too high.
I’m still on the Tyson boycott from the Klintoon yrs. WOW! That’s almost 20 yrs.
“Thats after theyve censured the guy living over in unit 12, phase II for the lawn being 1/4 too high.”
Well, it is pretty hard to get to San Diego riding a golf cart.
Never thought of that. I think we will. Any suggestions?
“I will boycott CA wine...”
Australia has some great wines.
Oh Please no one misunderstood their boycott. If you allow your city to pass this then you are part of it too and should not be surprised about this. I have a feeling that they will lose more than just these! If I were planning a convention and supported their stance on illegal immigration I’d avoid CA and go to AZ instead.
That’s why my parents rent their house...LOL! ;)
The hypocrites in LA will go to Phoenix for the playoffs but if they really believe in their “cause” they would not go.
10-4..couldn’t agree more
Shiraz be my fav
>>Could you boycott Starbucks next?<<
I live and work next to Seattle. My wife and I are huge fans of Market Spice tea. The only place to get it is the Market Spice store in the Pike place market downtown. We actually buy it for our friends in Chicago, South Dakota, Kentucky and Carlsbad California.
Seattle just voted unanimously to boycott Arizona. We’re boycotting the tea. Oh, and I’m boycotting Starbucks, seriously now. As John Adams said, the founding fathers, in fighting England, gave up their COMFORT. That is what keeps americans passive: They don’t fight back because they don’t want to lose all the “stuff”. Well, we’re trying to give up our “comfort” at every turn now.
In fact, we are avoiding the city completely, except we will use their “free” services as much as possible.
Yesterday we found a spiced tea that we actually enjoy almost as much as Market Spice. In fact, it’s a bit milder. We may just switch to it permanently.
I don’t drink wine so I’ve never tasted them, but there is actually an Arizona Wine Country.
