Piracy is a crime against humanity. Every jurisdiction has the legal basis to prosecute it. It’s one of the first things you learn in “Law and the Junior Officer” course at the academy.

The lesson?

When you catch a pirate, kill it.

or as the Brits would have said, “A short drop and sudden stop - that’s the remedy for piracy”
