The Chamber of Commerce has a fascinating post up at its Chamberpost blog recounting a series of e-mails between its own blogger Brad Peck and Markos Moulitsas, founder of Daily Kos, the popular left-wing site.

It began when Kos claimed in an April 30 post on his site that the Chamber was funding, via a group called Americans for Job Security, an ad attacking Arkansas Senate Democratic primary candidate Bill Halter, whom Kos is supporting.

Peck e-mailed Kos to inform him that he was incorrect. The Chamber was in no way connected to

Looks like AJS is another orginization abusing it’s 501(c)status, IMO Democrat leaning, Republican leaning or anything else leaning, if it walks like a 527 and quacks like a 527, it’s a 527, and ought to be divulging its funding sources.

Instead it’s claiming it’s a 501(c:

“Who are your members? Our members are businesses, business leaders and entrepreneurs from around the country. AJS does not disclose or discuss its membership further than this. Too often politicians or the media define an organization or message not by the merits of the argument, but rather by the perception of the people associated with it. We would rather the people decide on merits instead of name-calling.”
