Palin Headed to NRA Convention

After former GOP vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin urged a "Don't Retreat, InsteadRELOAD!" strategy to her fellow Tea Party and anti-Washington fans on Twitter last month, she was slapped by liberals and Democrats for using deplorable gun imagery. But Palin is not about to holster her rhetorical sidearm. What's more, she's leading a posse of Second Amendment-supporting Republicans to the annual National Rifle Association convention later this month in Charlotte, N.C. Take a gander at who's on the docket, which looks like the conservative roundup for the 2012 GOP primaries: Palin, Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, former United Nations Ambassador John Bolton, South Dakota Sen. John Thune, South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint, and Indiana Rep. Mike Pence.
"It's a big deal," says the NRA's top lobbyist and convention organizer Chris Cox. "It's a beauty contest of those who support the Second Amendment," he says, adding that the speakers will also include media and Hollywood elite, and even some Blue Dog Democrats like Tennessee Rep. John Tanner and North Carolina Rep. Heath Shuler.
With expectations of a record-setting crowd of 80,000, Cox says gun owners are fired up more than ever over concerns about liberal politicians banning guns and Washington's spending. "It's an indication of where the American people are on the Second Amendment," he says. Critics, he adds, "try to paint us as an extreme, but we are the deepest part of the river; we are the strongest part of the river," says Cox.

Sarah is kind of popular with the gun set.
She is also better armed than most of us.

Carrying is prohibited at the NRA convention this year. I will not be attending despite living in NC. The NRA didn’t even try to get carrying OK’d like they did last year in Phoenix.

Well now. Look at the line-up she will charm, right along with 80,00 in attendance.

But...but...where’s Romney at? He hunted varmints and is a life-long member (seconds before becoming a presidential candidate)!

I haven't figured out why the NRA keeps going to anti-gun cities since it's the city which determines the convention center policy. It must be a case of taking the fight to the enemy.

I keep seeing John Bolton's name show up various Republican events. I hope he's thinking about running for something, or at a minimum, have someone pick him as a VP candidate. A debate between he and Biden would be so laughable it could only be shown on Comedy Central.
To: militanttoby
Maybe she can do a little RINO hunting while she's there. Figuratively of course.

Remember that Romney also had to drop his claim that he owned a gun.
$200,000,000.00 and you never bothered to buy a gun? He also went from never being in the NRA to buying a lifetime membership for the presidential primary...and then running as an NRA member!
To quote the great gun man himself as he describes rifles of a style that Sarah Palin owns.
Mitt Romney:"These guns are not made for recreation or self-defense," "They are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people."

80,000, awesome!
Gov. Palin was unable to attend last time because the the bad guys had her pinned down in the governors office in Alaska. But she’s broken out and is on the march!

Somebody brings the NRA mags to work, ( I signed for a year in 04 myself) and they rail on rail about Nancy Pelosi, and yet they have no trouble supporting people with their brand name who knowingly will vote for Nancy Pelosi!! No one see the hypocrites this makes them?

"Sarah Palin urged a "Don't Retreat, InsteadRELOAD!" Sarah Palin's father, Chuck Heath used to take Sarah moose hunting with him before school. Whenever they failed to get a moose, he would always say, 'We won't give up. We'll just reload!' It was his way of saying one needs to stick with it and the more you do that, the more success you will have. It is good advice a father can give to his four children. It also reflects the healthy attitude that people get when they learn to hunt.
