President Obama: GOP Opposition to Stimulus 'Helped to Create the Teabaggers'
ABC News ^ | Tuesday, May 4, 2010 | Jake Tapper

Three days after he decried the lack of civility in American politics, President Obama is quoted in a new book about his presidency referring to the Tea Party movement using a derogatory term with sexual connotations.

In Jonathan Alter’s “The Promise: President Obama, Year One,” President Obama is quoted in an interview saying that the unanimous vote of House Republicans vote against the stimulus bills “set the tenor for the whole year ... That helped to create the tea-baggers and empowered that whole wing of the Republican Party to where it now controls the agenda for the Republicans.”

Tea Party activists loath the term “tea baggers,” which has emerged in liberal media outlets and elsewhere as a method of mocking the activists and their concerns.

On Saturday, the president delivered a commencement address at the University of Michigan where he said one way “to keep our democracy healthy is to maintain a basic level of civility in our public debate … But we can’t expect to solve our problems if all we do is tear each other down.”

It doesn't bother me in the least. In fact having the President of the United States single out 'tea baggers' means they (we) are getting under his skin.

Undocumented, unmitigated terrorist-supporter, void of accountability,
who blames Americans at each and every opportunity:

The Democrats had better watch it with that teabagger slur.

They are going to take it on the chin in November.

Yes. I know. It’s disgusting and ticks me off. Liberals know it all too well which is why they used it in the first place. Especially that one dude, Anderson Cooper I think his name is.....

Worst president ever.

And yet schools will try to hold him up as an “inspirational figure” and not give 1 page to Clarence Thomas.

Tea Partiers standing firm to keep the government in check.
What you say is totally true. Wnenever a ‘progressive’ asks where were you during the Bush years, I simply tell them you wouldn’t shut up long enough to hear us!

“But we can’t expect to solve our problems if all we do is tear each other down.”

Hey, Hussein, why don’t you practice what you preach? To you, it’s always: Do as I say, not as I do.

There were several people on these threads who predicted that, if elected, Hussein would become the most divisive president we have seen in our lifetimes. It was predicted he would use race and class to drive the people farther and farther apart in order to shore up his political and social engineering policies. The only thing I find surprising about the man’s actions is his blatency and the crudity of his attacks. I had assumed he would be subtle enough to have his henchmen do the dirty work but it has turned out that Hussein himself is a front line actor in his campaign to defame and slander large percentages of the American citizenry.

This man is an utter disgrace to the office he holds. He was elected to the one office that represents ALL Americans and he has chosen to treat millions of us as virtual enemies. He slanders the nation, distorts its history and defames its people. He is unfit for high office and many in his party’s leadership are right with him.

Aside from the intended disgusting implication, the word teabag also connotes a weak, insignificant threat. You can’t accomplish much with tea bags. The Dems think that is the worst thing in our arsenal...that we are willing ever to use.

Well, we'll just appropriate it for ourselves and turn it back on them ... :-)

BS....the Tea Party started because our government is not capable of running this country and is using the people of the country for it’s own ends. This includes the admin.

One thing for sure, the Presidents speeches don’t mean a thing any more. All he can do is read the teleprompter, which someone else wrote. We no longer have a leader that can speak from the heart.

Could you imagine the vitriol that would be coming from the press if President Bush had attacked left-wing nuts the way that Obama is attacking the Tea Party?

Bush, to his credit, ignored the idiots on the left. This “President”, however, finds it OK to demonize a group of normal, everyday Americans who actually care about the leftward tilt of this country. They are not radicals.
