Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is speaking out against the new hard-line immigration law in Arizona, becoming the first prominent national Republican to do so.
"I think it creates unintended consequences," he said in a telephone interview with POLITICO Tuesday. "It's difficult for me to imagine how you're going to enforce this law. It places a significant burden on local law enforcement and you have civil liberties issues that are significant as well."
The measure, signed into law last Friday, would require police to check the immigration status of any individuals they reasonably suspect are illegal immigrants and arrest them if they can't prove legal status.
Bush said he understood the anger that prompted the bill, but that immigration should remain a federal issue.

Rubio is for AMNESTY?
I have friends who are Hispanic and I have dated Hispanic women. I have noting against Hispanics.
This is not an Hispanic Issue. Its an illegal alien issue and I don’t give a damn where they come from.

The fact that he opposes this particular law is ont in itself proof he is not a conservative.

The only thing that surprises me about the Bushes (father and sons) is that there are those on this forum who passionately defend them and their policies when they were the WORST candidates the Republicans fielded in generations - huge spenders who didn’t stand for much of any conservative principles except at election time. But for Ronald Reagan wrongly selecting him as vice-president, Bush Sr. would have stayed an appointed party functionary (before his appointment as VP, he never won anything above congressman in a safe Rep. district) and his country-club sons would have remained the nonpolitical nobodies they richly deserved to be, instead of helping elect the current executive and legislative branches with towering Democratic domination.
There is only one issue for me and Rubio screwed the pooch when he was in the Florida state house/senate. He is pro-amensty.
FL needs a real conservative running. I wish Bill McCollum was running.

Police randomly single out people and check their sobriety then arrest them if they suspect they are intoxicated. Oh and you lose your license if you won’t give testimony against yourself. i.e The Breathalyzer.

I agree. I think Reagan was forced to accept him by the party to have a balanced ticket. I’m sure Bush bucks and the bucks of his globalist buddies helped him.

The federal govt, Jeb, will not handle the illegal issue, not immigation issue, in any way that most Americans approve of - so get out of the way.

Legal immigrants are issued status papers and/or green cards.
The rest of us have to show a driver's license or a facimile that they can obtain if they don't drive.
All this law is doing is asking people to show an I.D.
There is no plan to just run around & ask people if they are illegal. If they are arrested or stopped for good cause, like anyone else - they will be asked for their I.D.
What is so wrong with that?
