Jeb Bush speaks out against Ariz. law

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is speaking out against the new hard-line immigration law in Arizona, becoming the first prominent national Republican to do so.

"I think it creates unintended consequences," he said in a telephone interview with POLITICO Tuesday. "It's difficult for me to imagine how you're going to enforce this law. It places a significant burden on local law enforcement and you have civil liberties issues that are significant as well."

The measure, signed into law last Friday, would require police to check the immigration status of any individuals they reasonably suspect are illegal immigrants and arrest them if they can't prove legal status.

Bush said he understood the anger that prompted the bill, but that immigration should remain a federal issue.

Brazilians are all over FL too. Big in the drug trade too.

Illegals are illegals and Crist and Rubio love em.

I cannot imagine cops are going to be randomly asking people for papers. Generally they have to have some suspicion. There are PLENTY of illegals they stop for some other reason - you know, driving down the wrong side of the freeway at 90 MPH, etc.

I’m not offended I’m saying I give up hoping for principled conservative leaders.

Rubio has to do this and I could defend him on a number of levels. But the bottom line is illegal immigration is not good for the country and his position is a fine example of it. You can’t oppose the citizen hispanics politically.

And the day after they get amnesty, the politicians will have to treat the new citizens as citizens. In fact we all will.

That’s what’s so insidious about the whole situation.

We’d be furious if the Federal government tried to pass a law that stated everyone had to carry proof of citizenship at all times. What would we feel if your STATE tried to pass such a law? Because this is what the AZ law will amount to, at least in areas where everyone isn’t known by the Law already.

These RINOs feel morally superior to 75% of Arizonans. So much so that they haven’t even verified the facts.

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH IMMIGRATION. IT IS THE ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION AND THE BACK DOOR TAKING OVER OUR COUNTRY THAT WE ARE AGAINST!

Any question?

No doubt. Always suspicious of residents of Florida since McCain was magically resurrected there in the ‘08 primary, though.

Why did he do it? Part of a scheme for a one-continent country from the Arctic to Chiapas? Why?

There is your reason why GWB pushed Open Borders and Amnesty

Most people who support Illegal Alienism are also Open Borders, One World Government, NAFTA, CAFTA, WTO supporters....

As someone once told me about people like Bush...”Treason Is The Reason”....

I am so sick of hearing the praises of these useless, ineffectual, smug, inept, incompetent and unintelligent wooden nickels.

"Rubio, whose parents were Cuban immigrants, said the legislation could 'unreasonably single out people who are here legally, including many American citizens.'"
Oh geez, another Republican dimwit.

Single them out, and then what Marco? Beat them? deport them? Arrest them?....

Woooo wait, I know. An officer of the law might ask them for their ID....The horror.

Bob Smith is running in the primary? Yeah Rubio is an open-borders RINO like Crist. I will tell friends to vote for Bob Smith.

Does Bob Smith have a web site?

I told Rubio to stop sending me his stinking emails. He is a fraud like Crist.

I am not sure if Smith has registered before the Primary (registration is due on Friday April 30)....but I have been leaning his direction the past few months. He has gotten little publicity outside of local radio shows in the state

I will try to find a website for the Smith campaign

I can neither vote for Crist or Rubio. I am surprised all the praise for Rubio...when many around the state knew that Rubio is virulently pro-illegal alien. This is the reaso why Mel Martinez decided not to run for re-election

What is scary is that Crist will run as Independent. Crist has a lot of support from Dems and Independents...and could win the election....
