NEW JERSEY (WABC) -- New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has been in office for just three months, and a new eyewitness news poll shows voters are not giving him any kind of a honeymoon as he presses for budget cuts.
Only 33% of New Jersey residents approve the job Christie is doing as governor.
Nearly twice the number, 63% disapprove.
The telephone poll by SurveyUSA has a margin of error of plus or minus 4%.

“Subtlety is not going to win this fight”: NJ Governor Chris Christie.
Men of Principle and ethics are often initially unpopular.
Are you really going to believe this garbage? The same people who elected him are now souring on him? He said he was going to cut spending and he is. Sheesh
Thats why I didn’t understand how the poll could come out this way...I wanna know the sample they used.
It sounds like a crock.
LOLOL..........
Don’t believe the polls for a minute.
When you see SurveyUSA,Quinnypac,Gallup,CNN your red flags should raise.
>> Are you really going to believe this garbage?
Exactly - crap poll.
If these school board budget votes are any indication of what is going to happen in Nov., we will take back the House and Senate.
Its pure crap and nothing more.
Purpose of polls - to create opinion, not reflect it.
Like he gives a crap.
He’s out to CLEAN UP New Jersey, yea, there will be times when the CRIMINALS win the propaganda war, but overall, the PEOPLE of New Jersey more than understand what he’s doing.
Exactly! Most of these polls are nothing but political psychological operations against the American public by the Left.
I’m in NJ and I think the poll is wrong, Christie went out and told people to vote the school budgets down and 58% of the school budgets were voted down. I went to SurveyUSA and can’t find the poll in question. If I had to guess? the poll was done mostly in heavily Democratic known corrupt Counties.
To quote the late, great Conway Twitty, “It’s only make believe ...”
I just did a poll. 80% of the respondents say this was horrible newswriting and a pure hit piece. They all give the so-called "journalists" an 'F'.
As a former resident of NJ, all my relatives just love Chris Christie and all that he is trying to do. The only folks against him are those that are afraid they will lose their position on the public teat.
I agree. I’m in NJ, and most of the people where I work are glad that someone’s actually doing what he was elected to do.
The media LOVES THE STATE (when it’s run by liberals), and they are trying to find and create ways to discredit him and his agenda.
This poll is CRAP, and don’t mean SQUAT because he’s going to be around for 4 years.
Bullcrap
I’m calling BS on this one. Christie is governing just like he campaigned. Unlike Blowbama, who would have received about 30% if he actually told the truth about the socialist scams that he’s trying to pull off.
Cutting the leeches off the taxpayers is going to make anyone unpopular in this day and age. He’s politically courageous for doing so.
Now the voters just expect politicians to get into office and hand out goodies, regardless of the cost....since most of them aren’t payin’.
Assuming the poll is accurate, it is New Jersey.
Voters may have just wanted a Republican for four years to make the welfare state work better, not cut it.
You’re not going to find any favorable press of a Republican in the MSM unless it’s John McCain, Lindsey Graham, or Mitt Romney. Esepecially in 2010.
I’m strongly inclined to agree with you.
Poll results are employed in accordance with the unspoken motives that triggered the exercise in the first place:
Namely, to confer moral authority for their usage as a legitimate tool of cultural intimidation against those whom the results have shown to be one’s adversaries.
Bogus garbage. NJ Gov Christie is a hero.
I agree. The recent school budget vote sure looks like the support for Christie is there.
99% of the random calls were, miraculously, made to members of the NJEA.
You saved me a trip to look at the article. I think you nailed it.
My gang and I at Monmouth Park seems to like Mr Christie.
Anything that ABC sponsors is suspect.
SurveyUSA is the equivalent of the MSNBC for accuracy. They probably called all dem households! I can tell you that THIS New Jerseyan loves Governor Christie!
mrs
They probably sampled Newark, Camden or just Hudson County. Maybe just the teachers or state union workers. Nobody has ever asked me what I think.
One can’t trust a poll...especially when the left is involved in it.....it’s BS
And you would be right. Rasmussen:
53% in New Jersey Approve of Governors Job Performance.
They’ve probably heard he’s been mentioned as a possible “12 candidate. Time to begin to destroy him. I know teachers in NJ who support him wholeheartedly, although they can’t say so..
Have to say many many people in NJ are wimpy, I might even say cowards. They react so negatively to anything confrontational.
I dont live in NJ but I have family that does. NJ people need to deal with some reality. The answer to everything cannot always be raise taxes on rich people. You need to grow the economy and you have to bew serious about budget spending.
2). Doing the right thing won't make you popular, just right. God will likely judge him kindly, if his fellow man does not.
LOL!
63% of WABC-employed leftie wonks disapprove.
99% of non-brain dead citizens approve.
CHRISTIE ROCKS!
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Take out the non tax payers and his numbers are in the high 70s
Which means all those people who voted him in to cut spending wanted him to cut someone ELSE’s spending?
I hate those internet polls where they add a declarative sentence to the “yes” or “no.” Like:
“Yes. I support Gov. Christie. It’s about time we shipped all black people out of New Jersey.
“No. I oppose Gov. Christie. We need jobs and opportunity in New Jersey.
Yup.
Plus Christie only won with 49% of the votes, so at 53% now, he is actually polling better than he did when he won as governor.
He’s taking on the treachers and their union - in school budget elections across the state this week, 317 districts turned down their proposed budgets out of 516 total districts - turnout was reportedly as heavy as in most midterm elections in many towns - I’d say the real figures are about 60-30 in Christie’s favor......
Based on the school districts’ budget votes this week, a higher percentage of NJ actual voters are paying attention that at any point in the last 35 years.
The moops who have enough free time and lead such boring lives in NJ that they voluntarily respond to a pollster is the kind of moop who is too lazy to vote.
The lazy don’t support the Gov.
No surprise.
