Caller: I'm very frustrated about what happened they didn't listen to the people at all.
I don't know if you happened to hear what Michelle Bachmann said about peacefully not complying with obamacare? I think that's going to be me.
I have read the bill and I know about the provisions that will throw me in prison and really I don't care. I'll be more than happy to go to prison to fight for my freedom.
Host: How do you see your freedom on the line here?
Caller: They are taking our money by fiat. They are taking our money and giving it to somebody else. I cannot pay my bills and I cannot feed myself and the people I need to take care of if it's taken from me by force.
Host: Do you mean in the mandate that everybody have health insurance?
Caller: Yes, that's the primary aspect of it as it sits right now, but that's not all the only aspect. This bill has hundreds of tax increases in it and it creates hundreds of new bureaucracies. It spends money that we don't frankly have and it's a threat to me and my family.
Host: Do you think you would have thought the same way about social security if you were on the whitehouse lawn in 1935?
Caller: I think I would have and given where social security is now with the.... what's the debt of social security? Isn't it like 25 trillion now? The people that said the things that they said about social security given the huge debt that it's in were correct. I saw a piece in USA Today about the combined debt of social security and medicare together is 60 trillion dollars.
I stood and cheered at this caller.
At the rate they’re going we’d be better off in prison! Imagine working 60 hours a week only to have 99% of your income stolen away!
In a dark “what if” scenario there may be vigilantes performing mass prison escapes for imprisoned Obamacare inmates.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
If I put the numbers together correctly from early 90s: inmates worked ~30 hrs?/week at ~$0.25/hr (or was that /day?) for an income of <$7.50/week. If that's 1% of potential earnings outside, that's $750/week. I guess you're in the ballpark, but with that low pay comes three meals a day and a bed, however crummy those are.
(There may be a reason in this somewhere why most of the homeless are not vying to become prison inmates.)
Wolverines!
Yeah, I don’t think I’d want to go to prison either, but I could see the benefit of it.(devils’ advocate)
Let some americans start getting put in prison over this and then right there you’d have a no qualms about it set of americans who are victims(above/beyond economics) of obamacare and that kind of thing would create such a huge outcry from americans that it would likely get the bill repealed.
I’d never advocate this to anybody, but for those who truely feel this way about resisting and going to jail their efforts are hardly meek. As the caller clearly sounded passionate about all of this.
The sad thing is that it’s gotten to this point that we are looking at it this way.
I’ve got your flank, wku.
The trick is to NOT go to prison...
It’d be better to have a plan in place ready to implement, and avoid the unlawful enforcement of this un-Constitutional Federal law...
Its going to take YEARS, many more than we believe to get this taken care of, and there are no guarantees that it will be repealed...
No one is going to back anyone else up on this, we are on our own when all is said and done, no one is going to bust anyone out of prison, or any other spectacle like that...
We all have to have our own, discrete, plan to be prepared for the coming storm...We know its coming, we just need to figure out how to weather it, and make our point at the same time when we do it...
They cannot fight us all, they cannot imprison us all (they can get a lot of us) but there are too many of us, but the real tragedy in all of this, is we cannot trust anyone else, not even folks here...
So let this just be that little secret we keep under our hats, and keep to ourselves...No one needs to know...
That all I have to say about it...
Never let these bast*rds get control of you. These are evil
devils that wouldn’t think twice about injecting you with
more so called vaccines and kill you. Never go to any confinement period.
If everybody just says "pizz on it, throw me in the slammer", would it still be prison? Sounds like it could turn into a big-azz campground to me.
I’m not going to pay one cent into Obamacare and I am not going to prison over it either. All I have to say is that if they plan to take me to prison over it, the last 300 yards before they get to my house are going to be a bitch!
You are a wise man.
Not many people will take strong stands when push comes to shove.
It may not take many.
You have to remember, the liberal media does not have a monopoly anymore.
It would only take a handful to be willing to go to prison, and their families being knowledgeable on how to properly leverage the blogosphere, talk radio, and fox news.
Theoretically, it may only take one single person willing to do this. Let it become a top story on fox news and let americans widely talk about how a peaceful resister of obamacare went to prison.
Americans would side with the peaceful resister. I have a feeling this is exactly what Glenn Beck means when he talks about Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr.
“Ready and Forward!”
Saddle up, lets ride!
Note the tagline.
Yeah, right, caller. It's easy to be a Wolverine when you're sitting on your ass in an air conditioned trailer house talking to some idiot on the radio. But when you are kicked out of your bed at 4 a.m. by a guy in a ninja suit who is holding a gun in your face, and you're watching them take your little boy away to be adopted out to the gay couple in Vermont, all that macho crap is going to vanish like a fart in a hurricane. Two weeks later you'll be in an orange jumpsuit standing in front of a federal judge crying your eyes out and begging them to let you pay their tax.
Jim Robinson, how long are you going to allow these Keyboard Kommandos to use FR as place to play Army Man?
Freedom of speech is a precious right, don’t you think?
What does freedom of speech have to do with anything?
We know where you stand.
Let the Keyboard Kommandos talk their bravado. If it makes them feel good in a bad situation, what harm does that do you or FR? This is a bad thing (Obamacare) that people have to contend with. The consequences are appalling. Seizure, confiscation and prison. Who knows if they are willing to go to prison for their beliefs? You??? People have had enough of encroaching government. Let them blow off steam.
Yes. I stand in the Real World.
My concern is the microchip. I’m not going to let anyone ever do that to me.
I see what you’re saying, but you’ve got to realize that there are a lot of morons on FR who actually think that they are somehow going to make a romantic one-man stand against the Federal government, and that their sacrifice will lead to some kind of bullshit Hollywood happy ending. By allowing them to live in such a fantasy world, we increase the chances of one of them actually doing something stupid, and ending up like those poor bastards in Waco did.
Only someone who has never experienced Uncle Sam’s nasty side could fantasize about being a “freedum fahter”. Having been on the receiving end of just a tiny fraction of the hurt that Uncle can put on you, it’s my duty to call “enough” when faced with such adolescent nonsense. Folks, the federal government will RUIN YOUR LIFE if you give them an excuse. That’s “ruin” as in “you will never have a happy day ever again”. If you cause the Feds any real trouble they will crush you without batting an eyelash, and anyone who tells you anything different is selling something.
Being a partisan in real life isn’t like the movies. In real life, you don’t get to be a jut-jawed, good-smellin’ Patrick Swayze picking off Rooskies with Jennifer Grey at you side. In real life, they come for your kids in the night, and the next thing you know you’re bald, jumpsuited, and in a concrete cell. And if you do manage to escape, you’ll be a terrorist, and sooner or later they’ll be chopping you to pieces with 30mm cannon fire from a helicopter you can’t even see.
We have exactly the government we deserve in this country. The current situation is the inevitable end result of a society that is based on the idea that Man, not God, is the source of legitimate authority. The only thing left to do now is shut up, hunker down, and survive until the whole corrupt mess falls apart.
Silly rabbit. Your betters know you feel this way. Don't you think they have thought this through? Training takes time. That's why there won't be a direct "go to jail" showdown. At least not in the beginning. The government has rigged the banking system and the IRS to be able to just confiscate money from your account, or from your paycheck. Putting people in jail costs money and our creditors grow weary. Besides, jail just takes producers out of the earning loop. Why bother with that when they can just make a direct withdraw?
What happened to you?
The details are unimportant.
You are wise, FRiend. Uncle Sam is not some comic book villain. First he comes for your money, then your stuff, then your kids. He only brings in the Gun Boys when someone is being annoying.
.....................and FREE Health Care ;-)
Yep! So we should all just get down on our knees and BEG for the corrupt government to take ANYTHING they deem valuable of ours to feed the beast.
At least that is how I read you.
We should all just give up. Don't fight back.
I don't intend to be pushed around by the government I pay for with MY taxes. These people work for US!!!
I don't ever want a confrontation with my own government but the "government" increasingly is pushing honest people into corners where they feel they may have no choice other than to act out with civil disobedience.
This country was founded on the shoulders of great men that were tired of the government pushing its citizens around and remember that the FIRST American Revolution was fought for FAR LESS reasons.

I don’t see that happening - the going to prison thing.
“They” may try a few cases to instill fear in the sheeple - however I believe “they” will run out of willing thugs in short order who would seize us against our will. I don’t believe “they” are stupid enough to pull another Waco type operation on any Americans again.
A bad ruler/despot can only carry out his plans if he has willing thugs to do his bidding. Target the thugs and see how desperately they really need those nice pensions and benefits.. They will learn very quickly that it pays to stay home and protect their own.
Pay heed to Alexander Solzhenitsyn - he said that if the people only had the nerve to resist in the the beginning, Stalin would have gotten nowhere.
I for one, will never submit.
Following your advice is a sure thing for defeat.
Aren’t you just a ray of sunshine...................
They are going to take what they like to you whether you beg or not, FRiend They've been doing it since February 3, 1913. Why would they stop now?
We should all just give up. Don't fight back.
Unless you want to die for nothing, yeah, pretty much.
I don't intend to be pushed around by the government I pay for with MY taxes. These people work for US!!!
I am laughing so hard right now.
I don't ever want a confrontation with my own government but the "government" increasingly is pushing honest people into corners where they feel they may have no choice other than to act out with civil disobedience.
Big talk. No one is going to do squat.
This country was founded on the shoulders of great men that were tired of... BLAH BLAH BLAH KATE SMITH SINGING GOD BLESS AMERICA...the FIRST American Revolution was fought for FAR LESS reasons.
Whatever, my Friend. It doesn't mean a thing.
Most appropriate, thank you.
Just send in your return with no check. If thay complain send them an IOU.
Believe what you like, FRiend. I’m not trying to convert anyone to my way of thinking. If living in a fantasy land suits you, by all means keep at it.
That's a commendable statement but this isn't 1776 anymore. Too many people got jobs, mortgage payments, car payments, kids to shuttle back and forth between hockey, soccer, baseball, cheerleading...etc.........
Despite all the bravado rhetoric, it's unlikely anyone will rush to his rescue.......
So if this country hasn't a chance and we should all just run and hide, but we can't because the gubermint knows all, then what the HELL are you doing here?! Why not just run off to Brazil or New Zealand?
Honestly, you sound like a communist plant.
Give up or die.
Either way, you are dead. If you give up you are still dead, it just takes a bit longer.
You can give up if you like.
I still believe in the principals of freedom. Whatever that is worth.

Because I'm from Texas. Where am I going to go? The Mexican food everywhere else sucks, and don't get me started on barbeque.
Honestly, you sound like a communist plant.
As a Catholic, I am not permitted to believe in communism, which is a materialist philosophy. I am, however, a plant -- specifically, a rosemary bush.
Give up or die. Either way, you are dead. If you give up you are still dead, it just takes a bit longer.
Wasn't it Keynes who said "In the long run, we're all dead"? In any case, it's what you do when you're alive that counts.
You can give up if you like.
Give up what? I haven't given up anything. I have a wonderful, happy life. Jesus is still Jesus no matter how high they raise taxes or which party runs the bureaucracy.
I still believe in the principals of freedom. Whatever that is worth.
That sort of freedom is an illusion. True freedom has nothing to do with politics or government. True freedom is doing your duty to God and your neighbor and letting everything else take care of itself.
It's spelled "principles", by the way.
“....Besides, jail just takes producers out of the earning loop. Why bother with that when they can just make a direct withdraw?”
Hmmm...another interesting constitutional question. If we are “required” to give them back account information, doesn’t that infer that we are “required” to have an account at a private bank?
I’ll shut my accounts down and go all cash before they get any account info!
Keyboard kommandos? Did you not hear the audio?
Look, I don’t know if it’s really genuine or not but it certainly sounds authentic. And there was another caller who talked about the jail time. People know this is out there and there will indeed be fighting back in many ways.
Should we all act as if these things aren’t being said? “hush hush, don’t talk about it”
Let’s assume you are correct and say that this is someone playing army man. They did so on NPR, not on FR.
At least get that part right.
—————By allowing them to live in such a fantasy world, we increase the chances of one of them actually doing something stupid, and ending up like those poor bastards in Waco did.—————
This is a damn good point. And if anything, you made it in the right thread.
———————there are a lot of morons on FR who actually think that they are somehow going to make a romantic one-man stand against the Federal government, and that their sacrifice will lead to some kind of bullshit Hollywood happy ending.—————————
Yeah, a happy hollywood ending isn’t going to happen but as I stated above, if people really did start doing this(even if only a handful) it could easily lead to a repeal of obamacare. Let there be victims of obamacare above/beyond economics and let it become a big nationwide story. The american people simply wouldn’t stand for it and you’d have 1994’s again and again and again.
There are millions of americans who know how to leverage talk radio and the internet to their advantage. This isn’t something the liberal media could keep a lid on.(should it actually start happening)
-————Folks, the federal government will RUIN YOUR LIFE if you give them an excuse.-—————
With the passage of obamacare, some people realize that the ruin has already been signed into law. Now it’s just a matter of time.
I happen to think the american people will pull a miracle and get it repealed ala Dan Rostenkowski but I’m confident it will take on a different form. The sad thing is that a few people may have themselves put in jail as the only catalyst we’ve got to reach a full repeal.
The problem is at the employer/employee interface. No legitimate business pays its workers in cash any more. How do you propose to convert your paycheck to cash without going to a bank? (Please don't say you're thinking of going to one of those mojado check-cashing joints.)
And if you have debts (e.g. car or mortgage payment), forget it; you are married to the lender until Payoff Day. I don't recommend paying cash for major purchases; buying a car or house with a suitcase full of $100 bills is the fastest way to get the attention of the Law that I can think of, short of blowing up Dunkin Donuts. Even if you do choose to pay in full at the time of sale, you'll still have to do so with a bank draft or cashier's check -- and that means a bank.
If enough people pulled out of the banking system, Uncle Sam and the Megacorporations would be in deep crap. At that point, however, they'd just pass a law making cash illegal. Still, it's a good idea for the moment. Kudos.
The sad thing is that its gotten to this point that we are looking at it this way.

Several extreme scenarios have been discussed lately by good Americans: secession, CW II, civil disobedience...
And yep, who woulda thunk it. The world was just planning to turn 2000 A.D., and wondering if a Y2K virus would infect us.
Now, there is talk of civilian armies, record gun sales, Marxist coup d’etats, it’s crazy.
yes, the world’s gone a little crazy.
-——————That’s a commendable statement but this isn’t 1776 anymore. Too many people got jobs, mortgage payments, car payments, kids to shuttle back and forth between hockey, soccer, baseball, cheerleading...etc.........——————
Well, it’s not my cup of tea...... I’ll be honest. My family is in consolidation mode currently.
Asians and mexicans are sometimes known for having 13 or so people living in just one 3 or so bedroom house, pretty soon if government gets any more expensive we’ll all be living that way.
But! While you say “too many of us have....” you should consider those who don’t.
Consider those who don’t have any of that, or may even have some of that and feel that if they put themselves up on the chopping block they are sparing another member of the family. Whether you believe that or not. It’s inherent that we all want to pass down an america that is better than the one we have now and an america where the government bosses you around, takes your paycheck, and throws you in jail for not bowing to the king is certainly not what we want to give our kids.
I suspect the passion in this man’s voice is more of fear than anything else, fear of being pushed into a corner and not having anywhere else to go.
I’m just thankful that enough americans have enough honor to not go around blowing $#yt up ala McVeigh. Let someone go to jail for peaceful disobedience, at least that is respectable. Misguided but respectable.
-——————————Despite all the bravado rhetoric, it’s unlikely anyone will rush to his rescue.......-——————
At the risk of getting a name wrong or forgetting someone I can think of quite a few.
How about Limbaugh, or Beck, or Levin, or Hume, or Huckabee, or anybody else with a powerful microphone and a love of country as well as a properly placed fear of big government.
America doesn’t have a liberal media monopoly anymore, so if the information can get out there, there *will* be someone coming to the rescue. First the microphone(or camera if it makes tv) then millions of americans.
No american would stand for this. Throwing people in prison for peaceful disobedience. Even some of your hardest of hard core progressives would see the light.(if only seemingly, let’s be honest, the true progressive base is a lot smaller than those who claim to be progressive)
