Everyone that works and has an income should pay some amount of tax. They need to pay their fair share to take care of this country. The Fair Tax could take care of this but this administration wouldn’t get rid of the other taxes. I have heard it said that even if they put in a Flat Tax on everyones income, of only 10%, the government would have more money than they could spend. I’m sure they would find a way to spend it though.

Did you hear about the concept of cutting SPENDING?

Also — Reagan proved it that cutting taxes actually increases tax revenue, because it stimulates the economy, and people pay a lower percentage of MORE income generated.

I remember candidate Obama was asked in a TV interview, whether he still wants to raise taxes, even though that hurts the economy and he replied that yes, he does, to make it “fairer” to everyone - i.e. redistribute income. I don’t have the clip — but the Republicans should have run that as an ad 24/7.

This is a result I did not expect.

47 % of Americans pay no income tax.

Fixed it. They still pay other State and Federal taxes. But, yeah...I hate when people vote to raise other people's taxes.

“Where was that 66% in November of 2008!!!”

Obama promised to cut taxes and the suckers believed him.

“These figures help explain why candidate Barack Obama promised to cut taxes for 95% of all Americans during Election 2008. ... Currently, only eight percent (8%) believe their taxes will be cut during the Obama presidency, while 46% expect a tax hike. “

Everyone that works and has an income should pay some amount of tax. They need to pay their fair share to take care of this country.

I agree wholeheartedly. Even if only 3% of their salary. Everyone needs a stake in the financial responsibility of this country.

The Fair Tax could take care of this but this administration wouldn’t get rid of the other taxes.

Until spending is cut and the budget is balanced, it really does not much matter what method we use to collect taxes.

“lower income” voters needs to be defined for this poll...does it mean the $25,000 crowd who sucks drugs on the weekend and lives with his girlfriend or the regular working folks with car, house, two kids.......

I’m all for cutting spending, but the idiots in Washington have saddled us with a huge debt that has to be repaid.
I thought the Republicans spent like drunken sailors during the last half of the Bush administration, then Obama and friends showed up and sset a new standard.

“Fifty-two percent (52%) of voters trust Republicans more than Democrats on the issue of taxes. Thirty-four percent (34%) trust Democrats more on the issue. Republicans also are trusted more on health care and the economy. “

Please put me in touch with some of that 25% — I’d like them to pay my taxes. I'd be willing to bet a small portion of my lunch money that the vast majority of that 25% are the freeloaders that are getting some form of welfare or another - free school lunches, medicaid, "earned" income credit, food stamps, "research" grants, or some other piece of the pie. They want more of our money, but they don't want to earn it.

I’d like to know the demographics of the 25% who disagree. I’ll bet a large number of them pay little or nothing in federal income tax.

I think the 25% are some idiot Democrats, the likes of Soros.

I remember some really rich Democrats put an ad in the NYT a few years back that taxes should be raised, but I haven’t heard any of them donating a few extra dollars to the Federal government to help out.

I thought the Republicans spent like drunken sailors during the last half of the Bush administration, then Obama and friends showed up and sset a new standard.

Don't forget that the democRATS took over congress in January, 2007 and have had control of the purse strings since that time. That's not to say that spending under Republican control was exceptionally thrifty, but the real skyrocket took place when the rats were running the show.

Obambi didn't "inherit" the spending of FY 2008 & 2009 from the Republicans - those budgets were crafted by the left.

53% of American households pay Federal Income taxes. (in 2009)

13% of Americans who don’t even pay Federal income taxes think the country is overtaxed.

What prevents the 25% who disagree from sending more of their money to the federal government? Or better yet to a charity? Nothing. They’re just the ones who won’t send their money but want everyone else’s money for their pet projects, their desiderata, their pipe dreams.
