An extraordinary contrast is emerging between the style and philosophy of governing as practiced in the executive mansion just north of the Potomac River and the Executive Mansion just north of the James River.
In Washington, President Obama is borrowing, taxing, and spending with abandon -- with little apparent concern about the long-term consequences of his unprecedented expansion of government control of the economy and the claims it will make on future earnings of the American people. The president's agenda relies on one-party power and minimal attempts at compromise.
In Richmond, on the other hand, Gov. Bob McDonnell has just closed a $4 billion budget deficit without raising taxes. To do so, he made significant cuts in a budget that had expanded by more than 70 percent in a decade -- better than 28 percent for every citizen in Virginia (in inflation-adjusted dollars).

Governor McDonnell's Facebook page:
Some common sense in our fine Commonwealth.
Yes, indeed. Let’s hope it carries through in November and we oust the four targetted Congressmen who live in swing districts.
I hope Bob runs for president someday.
Me, too. There’s a lot of potential there.
“I hope Bob runs for president someday.”
I can think of a lot worse candidates. For a moderate conservative, he’s been doing pretty good. And he shows a lot of finesse.
So long as Ken Cuccinelli replaces him as governor, I’ll be happy.
Connolly, Pereillo, Nye and Boucher are definite dead meat this November. If we fan the flames of discontent enough we may even get one more.
I was thinking that when he spoke at the VA State GOP Convention.
Dear Lord, please let it be Jim Moran.
You bet. He needs to go and bad. FYI the GOP ticket carried his district 51-49% this past November.
REALLY??? McDonnell carried Jim Moran’s district?
Yes all 3 candidates did.
That’s very encouraging. Thanks for pointing it out.
There’s a thread running that has GOP primary information on it
New Poll Shows Jim Moran Is Vulnerable [Matthew Berry within 3% of Moran!]

I love it so much, I could just jump up and down!
He’s very media savvy — I bet he’d come on your radio broadcast if he can work out the scheduling.
Nice,
I shall check that out.
Look how quickly he did what he did. So how hard is it?
Not at all.
Since he won by a wide margin he had a mandate, and a committed GOP House of Delegates behind him; an almost even split in the Senate, so he had lots of support. The unions and media did their usual, “the sky is FALLING!” when he cut budgets but he did what he said he’d do in the campaign.
If it works out and he comes on your show, please remember to put his name in the title of your thread so we can watch for it!
I’d have trouble forgetting that one.
We have to demonstrate to the country that fiscal responsibility is EXPECTED.
This is good news. It just proves that Obozo is an albatross around every Democrat’s neck. GOP officials who have sided with him must pay the price too in the primaries. We must show no mercy to enemies of the Constitution whoever they are.
