They're Coming for Our Children: Rep. John Lewis Compared GOP to Nazis on House Floor in ‘95 (Video)

Since Obama's health care legislation has been signed into law, the media have been in overdrive about the backlash - whether it's been former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's "reload" metaphor "targeting" certain congressional districts or how Republican lawmakers have supposedly encouraged violence by their floor rhetoric.

Media personalities and Tea Party movement detractors have been agog - saying this is unprecedented rhetoric in our political culture, especially when it has come from members of Congress. But that's simply not true.

For one example, go back to 1995 during the welfare-reform debate. Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., who is now embroiled in a controversy as to whether a Tea Party protester hurled a racial epithet at him, employed the use of his own Nazi invective.

And this is the man who Bill 0’Reily said the other night ws “an honorable man” and so he believed the accusation he made, but also agreed no proof has been shown such words were used.

In Peter Fritzsche book ‘The Life and Death of the Third Reich’ the first chapter, “Reviving the Nation,” shows how cleverly Nazism was inserted into the lives of ordinary Germans, converting contentious citizens into racial comrades. Indeed, Fritzsche uses the word “conversion” quite often, denoting the life-changing experience of becoming Nazi. Such conversions were best effected through indoctrination in communal settings at the local level, supplemented by party propaganda transmitted in print and on radio. At the same time, the Party’s monopoly of most aspects of life—education, recreation, jobs, and opportunities for advancement—persuaded the more reluctant that “to get along, you had to go along.” National Socialism, Fritzsche reminds us, “combined populism, racism, and nationalism in a youthful, energetic way” (16). It was dynamic; it looked toward a better and brighter future; it exalted the strong and the young; it called for “strength through joy.” A revival of youthful communal energy, the Nazis believed, would negate their own “macabre premonitions of German death.” Yet, in seeking to secure Germany’s future,“The Nazis delivered upon their enemies the very destruction they imagined awaited Germans”

From a review by Review by William J. Astore, Pennsylvania College of Technology (wastore@pct.edu).

Does this seem familiar?

Then there’s O’Reilly asking Laura last night....”You don’t doubt John Lewis’ claim do you?”.....

Why can’t anybody screw up the courage to say, “YES, I think he’s lying, because nobody else heard it and the video shows no sign of anybody flinching!”
“IF it’s the 1st time in 40 years he’s heard it, would you expect a visual reaction?”

What is John Lewis’ claim to fame?

Other than being black.

Here, under leave of Brutus and the rest —
For Brutus is an honorable man,
So are they all, all honorable men —

John Lewis is a piece of dirt. He betrayed the dream of MLK about people being judged on their character instead of the color of their skin.

Just like some of the other associates of King’s who marched for civil rights, he was elected to Congress because of the successful struggle. Since that victory black politicians have focused entirely on getting reelected and getting blacks to vote for Democrats.

They are race baiting socialist hustlers who care nothing about black people. Lewis is a liar. There is no evidence that anyone deliberately spit on him or used racial insults. This entire thing is a hoax designed to discredit Tea Party people all over America.

Other than being a communist scumbag...he was nearly beaten to death in a race demonstration in the 1960’s. I’ll cut him some slack because of that....but that was 40 years ago and he’s done little else since.

O’Reilly is a political correct Harvard elitist who does not know as much as he thinks. His ratings over nearly 10 years have gone to his head. For me, O’Reilly has not been right since he interviewed Jack Squat Barry. Since then, the man absolutely grates my nerves.
