This will never pass. Can you imagine you guys in a planning session with Eisenhower?
But general what if the Germans win? We are doomed as a nation.
But general the Nazis are so vicious and strong. All they need to have with more bombs than us and we are finished.
But general what if we lose? Our country will be over run by the Hun.
But general, they have Nancy Penazi on their side all 100 pounds of her what if she fights by scratching everyone’s face.
Wow there are so many wimps on this forum who are tailoring the white flag as we speak.
You are the reason we will lose this, but there are so many good guys on our side that we don’t even need your surrender techniques!
Certainly. He voted for the bill in Nov.
205 for - Kucinich announced support
This Senate will let them.
Elections have consequences.
This witch is going to pass a bill - anyway it can be done.
RE: Stupak tells Fox his 12 or 13 are not buckling.
and...
“...the day before the day they cave.”
**************
Agree! Give that dozen a nice ride on AF 1, like Kucinich, and some goodies for their districts and we’ll see how fast they cave...
The new bill will be filibustered if the have to vote on it again.
“For what shall it profit a man if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul?”
Uh, another Dem rep from Michigan sounds like he is moving toward yes from no on earlier vote. It feels it may be starting to slip away....?
Stupak’s rhetoric is courageous whether it’s a ploy or of sincerity.
I don’t think he’s immune to pressure and influence, but he’s definitely generating a lot of noise on his side of the fence.
He doesn’t strike me as one who’s eager to exploit the unborn for opportunity.
Right now, Stupak and friends need support. I will pray for him and the others.
What makes you believe the Democrats will honor the filbuster rule the next time around? The Senate bill itself contained rules changes which required a two-thirds vote. Yet they allowed it to pass with only 60 votes.
Ditto.
Heroic?
We will see?
I don't think such a policy change is allowed in a reconciliation bill. But if they convince "pro life dems" that it is possible, the senate bill can pass. That's all the Dem leaders care about.
That was true before the Brown election, now the Dems don't have 60 votes to pass it again. Elections have consequences.
A naked visit in the Capitol showers by Rahm seems to be in order!
I get the impression it's a life and death issue for someone. I have never seen either party fight this hard for ANY bill to be passed in my entire life and I am old as dirt.
About as fast as Dennis the Weird.
Obama has made a pile of the last of his political capital and is watching the roulette table slow down.
Reid realizes that he is gone anyway.
Pelosi, ironically, will continue in Congress until she wants to leave (she does represent her district fairly well), but she is serving her last 9 months in any place in leadership no matter what happens.
So the two big worriers on the Dem side are Obama, whose entire Presidential legacy can be destroyed in the next few weeks, and Steny Hoyer, who would love to be Speaker of the House rather than Minority Leader.
