George Orwell defines and describes DoubleThink as follows from his novel 1984:

"To know and not to know, to be conscious of complete truthfulness while telling carefully constructed lies, to hold simultaneously two opinions which canceled out, knowing them to be contradictory and believing in both of them, to use logic against logic, to repudiate morality while laying claim to it, to believe that democracy was impossible and that the Party was the guardian of democracy, to forget, whatever it was necessary to forget, then to draw it back into memory again at the moment when it was needed, and then promptly to forget it again, and above all, to apply the same process to the process itself -- that was the ultimate subtlety; consciously to induce unconsciousness, and then, once again, to become unconscious of the act of hypnosis you had just performed."

Ray LaHood, Secretary of Transportation in the Obama Administration gives us a great example of DoubleThink:

"I have always been — and still am — a fiscal conservative, an advocate for a smart, but restrained, government."

"For those reasons and others, most people wouldn't expect me to be an advocate for comprehensive health care reform. But the truth is, I believe there is no bigger issue to solve and no better chance to solve it than now."

"If I were still a member of Congress, I would proudly vote for the bill that President Barack Obama is championing and I would urge my colleagues to do the same, not because I don't believe in fiscal discipline, but because I do."

To hold simultaneously two opinions which canceled out, knowing them to be contradictory and believing in both of them...Ray LaHood would vote for ObamaCare because he is a fiscal conservative. Ray LaHood has lost his soul. He wallows in complete corruption.

Exhibit A to prove the truth of the axiom:

There is a noticeable and growing difference between “Republicans” and “Conservatives”.

We just need a real, responsible, pro-American government. Anyone know where we can find one??

Sure I do.

Take any random 535 Tea Partiers and have them replace the members of Congress and the President, and you'd instantly have a government that was a thousand times better than what we currently have.

Did you see Hussein’s cousin had an op-ed over the weekend OPPOSING Obamacare? The cousin is a doctor...radiologist, I think.

Of course it is ignored by the LameStream Media.

Oh, BS.

Jobs, anyone? Bankrupt states? National deficit combined with record spending? Takeover of auto industry? Banks? Marxist in the White House?

He was one of only three Republican candidates who did not sign on to the Contract with America, Newt Gingrich’s manifesto for a Republican majority, and was a member of the moderate Republican Main Street Partnership.

In August 2007, LaHood received a 0% rating from the conservative and anti-earmark Club for Growth 2007 RePORK Card

He received an 11% rating from the conservative lobbying group Citizens Against Government Waste in August 2007

******

LaHood is a close friend of President Obama’s ...

counts Obama’s chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, as a close friend

testimony of U.S. Rep. Rahm Emanuel, the Chicago Democrat:

“I’ll miss him dearly.”

As somebody who clashed often with his own hyper-partisan GOP leadership in the House, [LaHood] admits: “I survived Gingrich, Armey and DeLay. I’m still here. They’re all gone.”

LaHood and Obama were friends way back when Obama was a relatively unknown State Senator.

Steele should give himself a "kick out of the Party" right after LaHood (hood is right as he's just one of the Chicago-style thugs in Obama's Chicago.)

I'm also sick and tired of hearing the old "fiscal conservative." There's simply no such thing, every "fiscal conservative" vote against their so-called fiscal projects as the libs, they've never seen a tax hike they can't like.

Not sure LaHood's even a RINO. He's the same supposed conservative who claims that he's "an advocate for a smart, but restrained, government" who was pushing for mandatory GPS in cars so the government can track our every move.

Because they were too interested in spending money like the democrats of today. It’s only when a piece of legislation comes up that attempts to turn this country upside down that the GOP exits it’s spending hole to try and put a plug in the socialist agenda.

Code Red” - House Target List on Health Care

The National Republican Congressional Committee has published a target list on health care. In addition to continuing to contact the five Tennessee Democrat Congressmen, you can go http://www.votervoice.net/link/clickthrough/ext/94697.aspx to contact some of these targets. Much of the talk following Obama’s announcement has focused on how to defeat this second bill through reconciliation, but that is misleading because the first step to defeating Obamacare is not by concentrating on defeating the “fixer” bill but by defeating the Senate bill in the House when it goes to the floor for an up-or-down vote on Thursday, March 18th.

My point: every so-called "fiscal conservative" always find some reason to support larger government on behalf of "the people" or worse yet, "the children."

They simply do not believe in the people and "limited governance" as written in the Constitution, which was written for exactly these reasons.
