I’m not going to argue the relative social value of drug abusers, but rather that it is difficult to separate cause and effect from the mental illness, drug abuse social misfit triangle.

Several peer reviewed medical trials have shown that marijuana use, regular use over time can initiated genetic triggers for schizophrenia and other diagnostic cagegories in mental illness. In a similar fashion that diabetes can be accelerated by high carb/sugar intake to increase resistance to insulin- genetically marked. There are some people who do not have the genetic markers for this response to marijuana, but most people do. The receptor mediated response becomes both psychologically and physiologically addictive. Biochemically pot is needed to maintain the effect—and for someone to develop tolerance, hence needing more pot. Articles have also missed that pot smoke is highly carcinogenic— but maybe that’s nothing compared to death by Oreo cookies.

Alcohol isn’t very good for you either, long term and accentuates depression and suicidal mental illness, not to mention immune and nutritional deficiency and cardiomyopathy. Very self serving pot heads try to dispel high quality medical research. Neither agent is good for you, and guess what driving a car or flying in an airliner and a host of other things (like butter fat)aren’t either. But this does not good to a committed pot head or California legislator/revenue seeker from Mendocino County.

Genetic knowledge has surpassed the 60’s arguments you attempt to make. That said, the MSM has not properly characterized this nutcase as a child of the 60’s who had been busted for pot and other run ins and was bipolar and/or schizophrenic (they are not the same). Yes, alcohol is indeed legal, and what is also legal is that we as a society do not have to pay for a replacement liver or heart in a chronic drunk. Neither, if pot were legalized should we have to pay for rehab and to try to re-wire the screwed up neurons and electron transport systems of stonies. There have NEVER been any properly peer reviewed studies proving anthropogenic global warming... you are wrong, and that is precisely why the entire scam has been exposed. What I see in the “pot is perfectly safe” crowd is self serving cash producing rhetoric. And I have been to warehouses full of the stuff waiting to be put on the market by RJ Reynolds. I don’t want my pilot stoned or drunk or both, period. And this pre-wired bipolar aggravated his condition through self medication with pot— and it still does not excuse his actions. Legal or otherwise the biochemical effect on an individual is well documented.
