White House Grants Boehner An Invite-(Bart Stupak To Attend, With REPUBLICANS!)

House Minority Leader John Boehner on Wednesday asked President Obama to give Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) a last-minute invitation to Thursday’s health care summit.

In a letter, Boehner noted that the Stupak amendment, which bans federal funding for abortions, is not included in the president’s reform proposal or the Senate version of the health care bill.

Yet CNN and Quinnipiac University surveys “consistently indicate that the Stupak amendment reflects the will of the American people,” he wrote. “Including Representative Stupak… would send a signal that the White House respects the views of a majority of Americans and a bipartisan majority of the House on the critical issue of life.”

The White House has told Republicans they can invite another lawmaker to the summit since the administration invited Sen. Ron Wyden, a White House official said. As for Boehner's request for Stupak, the official said, "If they want Stupak to come, they can bring him."

I really think this thing is going down in flames and Bama wants to blame it all on the Republicans...Nothing new. He’s gotta blame some one. God knows he’s not going to take responsibility for it...

Obama wants to paint this as GOP obstructionism and it gets a lot harder to do with a democrat in opposition.

The media is going to portray this as a big win for Obama even if in actuality he gets shellacked by the Republicans. There is no way the media will report this thing accurately regarding the Republicans.

I was hoping 70%+ of the American people wanting this bill stopped would be enough for the Dems to toss it, but I guess not.

This is more risky than various posts reflect.

Stupak essentially opposes ONLY the Senate abortion language. Yes, he has problems with the Cadillac tax, but his views are 180 degrees from the GOP.

Bottom line: If Stupak can get comforted by some revisions to the abortion language, then his oppostion to BOcare is obliterated.

I frankly think that Boehner did not expect the White House consent on the Stupak attendance.

I saw Newt on Hannity. He said the Repubs should ask for equal time with the House and Senate Repub. leaders controling their time and who is to speak. If Obami does not agree they should walk out.

I didn’t see in that article where it confirm Stupak was going to attend. His only quote is:
“I had no prior knowledge of either the content of Mr. Boehner’s letter or his intentions to reach out to President Obama regarding tomorrow’s health care summit. His office informed me of his letter only after it had been sent to the President and released publicly. I am far more concerned with making real progress toward enacting comprehensive health care reform than with who received an invitation to tomorrow’s health care summit.”

I hope somebody smart is managing this for the GOP. But it’ll be novel to see Precious actually put in a whole day’s work.

The problem with this is that abortion while ultimately important is about #6 on the list of problems with this bill. Meaning it would not be beyond comprehension that the socialist administration take this off the table in return for taking all our other freedoms. Remember Stupak is a Democrat. He will fold like a house of cards if he gets what he wants.

Not really...
He took an unpopular stand with Democrats, STOOD ON IT, and now he owns it. To top it off, he’s in a fairly conservative district, so it’s his election if he screws this up.

The Republicans have the medical doctors in their contingent. RATS have no doctors in their contingent. Our doctors know every aspect of this issue to immense detail. Neither Barrasso or Coburn will take any nonsense from BO. They will hammer away at the destruction of the patient-doctor relationship under BOcare. Seniors will eat this up.

We’ll be fine.

BO also has no podium and no teleprompter tomorrow.

Point understood. Stupak also contemplating a run for Michigan Governor, which means he must oppose BOcare.

I think these Tea Party-leaning Republicans are so much smarter than Obambi that tomorrow could be rather fun.
