Arrest Head of Mossad, Dubai Police Chief Says
The Telegraph ^ | 18 Feb 2010 | Gordon Rayner and Martin Evans

An international arrest warrant for the head of Mossad should be issued following the assassination of a Hamas militant in Dubai, the emirate's police chief has said.

Lt Gen Dahi Khalfan Tamim directly accused Israel's Mossad intelligence agency of orchestrating the hit on Hamas commander Mahmoud al-Mabhouh.

He said Interpol should now seek out those those responsible and called for "a red notice against the head of Mossad" to be issued.

He said: "Our investigations reveal that Mossad is involved in the murder of (Mahmoud) al-Mabhouh. It is 99 percent, if not 100 percent, that Mossad is standing behind the murder."

Israel has maintained its "policy of ambiguity" on security, refusing to confirm the involvement of Mossad, which is now run by former army general Meir Dagan. Interpol has now issued warrants for the 11 members of the alleged hit squad who used false EU passports, including British ones, to travel to Dubai in order to kill al-Mabhouh.

David Miliband, the Foreign Secretary, has described the use of fake British passports in the assassination as an "outrage" and has said he remains determined to "get to the bottom of" the affair.

The identities of six Britons living in Israel were stolen by members of an alleged hit squad which killed Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Dubai in January.

Mr Miliband spoke out after the Israeli ambassador to London, Ron Prosor, was called to the Foreign Office to discuss the affair, which is rapidly escalating into a major diplomatic crisis.

"We wanted to give Israel every opportunity to share with us what it knows about this incident," Mr Miliband said.

"We hope and expect that they will co-operate fully with the investigation that has been launched by the Prime Minister and will be undertaken by the Serious Organised Crime Agency."

Arabs helping to kill another Arab? What's new? They do it all the time, and they sell each other cheaply... not so much because of matters political, but more eh... on anthropological grounds.

The whole story looks like a clumsy Arab plot to me. Arab countries, starting from the top-dog Saudis, hate the influence of Iran in the region. Hamas (or was it hummus?) is backed mainly by Tehran, and the deceased scoundrel was on his way exactly there, right? So, if other towel-heads needed to send a clear message to the Palis, there was no better way than to stop him in the tracks.

To try and blame the whole business on Israelis is just a bonus. But, as I told, a very clumsy try: stolen identities the Mossad does use, but only really silly teenagers would choose, out of six billion world inhabitants, the ones so easily traceable back to Israel.

So, this detail is obviously was conceived by the very professional Dubai plotters.

And anyway, do we have any proof that the group in question has indeed seen that Muhammad What's His Name out to the 70 virgins, except the statements of the Dubai Police Chief?

The guy died of suffocation. One could use a curtains' rope for that purpose, there are plenty of them in hotels, don't you think?

How ironic that the terrorist was also using a false identity.

Dubai is simply posturing and they really don’t care that this guy was eliminated.

The British are complaining? There was a time when the British were the masters of operations like this. No country was better at it.

Arab Spin. Perfect analogy. I agree if Mosad did it they would have never been seen.

The Palestinians are generally quite happy to help their fellow Israelis. Whatever.

I am certain the assassins had a better plan than that, probably with multiple methods of their choosing. I am also certain they brought their implements with them, 'kits', and it was probably relatively innocuous stuff in case they were searched.

Second they not only got caught they actually allowed for a minute by minute surveillance of almost the entire team. The Mossad can’t be that stupid nor that pathetic.

Cameras are everywhere these days. It's virtually unavoidable, especially when the assassins aren't on their home turf. They knew this, that's why they wore disguises.

Hamas is mostly backed by Syria now. Iraq gave them immense backing when Saddam was in power. Hezbollah, on the other hand, is the terrorist arm of Iran.
