One thing I have learned as an NYC cop:

When you ask a kid from the projects how they are know some other kid and they say, "he's my cousin", they aren't even close to being actually related.

They all say they are cousins. It mostly come from being brought up by all their mothers. It has nothing to do with relatedness.

You would think so. I worked at a Bank where my Boss was a Black woman, Vice President. She said Libary, Birfday, etc. and would brag about her son being “hung like a horse”. And she had a Masters. Kind of hard to respect her sometimes.
To me it’s no different than when we were kids and wanted to speak pig Latin until our Parents told us to shut up!!
