SOURCES: STARR NAMED BAYLOR UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT
The Waco Tribune-Herald ^ | 2/15/2010

Posted on 02/15/2010 6:21:20 AM PST by LA Woman3

Kenneth W. Starr, the former independent counsel whose work led to the impeachment of then-President Bill Clinton, was named president of Baylor University this morning, sources said.

Starr’s appointment as president of Baylor brings a nationally known, but highly controversial figure to the Waco campus at a time of prolonged and occasionally tumultuous transition from a teaching school to one focused on research and the pursuit of a top-tier ranking among colleges nationally. It ends a nearly 20-month-long search that began when former Baylor President John M. Lilley was fired in July of 2008.

Starr was only controversial because the Dems and Big Media proclaimed him so. I'm glad to see Starr has had no trouble continuing to be successful. He didn't deserve the never-ending public trashing. The Dems and Big Media have NO CONSCIENCE.

Fantastic. I am certain the school will benefit from his intellect and character. My 5 are long out of the “Harbor” but I have 11 grandkids. When one looks for colleges, the President gives a flavor of the philosophy of the organization. While most institutes of higher learning celebrate diversity, their definition of diversity is sex , color etc. True diversity is where all philosophies of existence are in a constant debate so our youth can understand the nuances of life and critical issues.

I don’t think Starr will be all that controversial in Waco, except amongst some of the faculty.

Interesting.

First non-Baptist to head Baylor ever. Not that “Baptist” is more important than “Christian” but still, interesting to note. Church of Christ and Baptists have an interesting synergistic/antagonistic relationship in the South and in Texas....

Too bad he refused to do his job in the 1990’s and just took the money.

Starr is as good a man as you will find — in all the traditional meanings of the word “good.” And, he is brilliant.

During the Clinton administration, when the media started trashing Starr as some kind of pervert, while defending the real pervert, Bill Clinton, I knew we were entering into an upside down world. All I could think of was Isaiah, and those who call evil good, and good evil.

It would be interesting to see where Nuge would have taken the school of music....I didn’t realize he was in the running! Probably fell a bit short on the Baptist bona fides, also....

It’s interesting that neither the Pepperdine nor the Baylor websites are acknowledging this yet....still putting their talking points together I guess.
