Sen. Gillibrand gets key backing from New York County Democratic Party

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand boxed out Harold Ford on his own turf Thursday night, reeling in the coveted endorsement of the New York County Democratic Party.

The committee chose to pass over Ford, a Manhattanite who is mulling a challenge against Gillibrand, to endorse the incumbent from upstate.

"In just a short period of time ... Gillibrand has proven herself to be a smart, hardworking advocate for the people of New York," said Assemblyman Keith Wright (D-Harlem), the county chair.

Ford had met with Wright last month and recently had urged him and other county leaders to hold off on any endorsements until he decided whether to run.

Chairman of the DLC, which the lefties call the republican wing of the democrat party. They were especially infuriated when the DLC signed the PNAC(neocon) letter to Bush urging the invasion of Iraq. That led to the attempt to unseat Lieberman.

Good. I hope she beats out Ford for the nomination. A “new face” would be harder to defeat in the General Election in a year of “Anti-Incumbent setiment”. Let’s all pull for her to win the Dem Primary.

I think we will see the grandmother of all RAT fights between the Socialist and the Communist wings of the RAT party before they get gutted in November. Yep, this is going to be a a real biotch fight! NY deserves a good AA fight between a Black metroman and a FemoNazi.

I attended a training on how to be a committee member locally. One of the leaders mentioned that we had someone to run against gigglebritches and the part went to that person’s boss to get his job threatened. He withdrew.
It’s a shame that happened - sure home someone else can run against her. She doesn’t deserve to represent us.

NY seems to like carpetbaggers in the Senate, both Clinton and Robert Kennedy have won the state. The problem with Ford is that he's just too unknown.

Having said that whoever the dem nomination is will most likely lose to the GOP, IF a big name candidate steps up to the plate.

It wouldn’t be the first three-way for Mort. I don’t think he wants his private life exposed.

I would like to see Lazio run against Gillibrand, and Steve Levy get all four top lines for governor. LOL. Well, he did it for Suffolk County executive didn't he? It is in everyone's interest to put this guy in charge of the state, as we will go bankrupt without a forceful captain in charge.

I'm dreaming, I know. Partisan politics will triumph over all. Dems will never go along with such an idea, especially knowing that it will free Lazio to run against Gillibrand. I'm willing to sacrifice party interest and my high regard for Lazio for the good of New York but I know they will not be of like mind.
