That's right. There is ABSOLUTELY no one to root for in this fiasco. No one comes out unscathed. Young is a lying opportunist. Hunter is a whore (that is the appropriate term for a woman who knowingly engages in a relationship with a married man, is it not?).
The depravity of Edward's action defy ability to be appropriately characterized by human language. And, Elizabeth Edwards comes off as a shrew of a woman who's own political ambition rivals that of her ambulance-chasing husband.

It would be VERY interesting to see what prior relationship North Carolina Superior Court Judge Abraham Penn Jones had with North Carolina attorney John Edwards.

Of course they will not recover all of the copies. To send a security firm along sounds idiotic. Abraham Penn Jones is merely another judge with a low IQ.
It depends. Some evidence that the state gathers in these cases may be subject to FOIA requests. Others - probably like this tape - will not be. Moreover, the presiding judge can place evidence under seal for a fairly long period of time. Such seals are rarely broken by FOIA requests - look at the evidence still under seal from the Warren Commission.
The judge in the Tommy Lee-Pamela Anderson tape case permitted the sale of the “private” recording (which was stolen out of the house, by the way) because it was “newsworthy” because of the case.
I think that Pamela ended up coming to negotiated payment terms since she was confounded by the courts on preventing its release.
And those were not elected public figures engaging in criminal misuse of campaign funds.
