The poor guy! I am sure he feels the pain of the people starving in third world countries who have starving babies because they can't afford to pay twice as much for food because of the "green" policies he has misled politicians into legislating. This nonsense kills vulnerable people. Fortunately he is a "scientist"; I am sure he has the ability to find a clean, green, and painless way to do it. But actually in my line of work the ones who actually do kill themselves don't seem to brag alot about their plans ahead of time. I think he is just hoping people will let him off because he has suffered so much already.

This worthless, lying, POS and his companions were trying to trying to turn the entire civilized world into a third world he!! hole, with themselves in the ruling class, and he is trying to gain our sympathy for getting caught?!
He needs to be in jail. I do not say this lightly as most liberals want to put any one who disagrees with them in jail, and I do not think like them, but these people were trying to topple the entire civilized world using total lies.

If this proven con-artist is as massively dishonest and manipulative as his e-mails prove him to be, is it not safe to assume that he is just once again being massively dishonest and manipulative?

Well, his lies have cost billions of wasted dollars and have led to starvation in the third world because of misbegotten progams like ethanol in gasoline.
However, I wouldn’t urge anyone to commit suicide. Just resign your position, Phil, and pay back the research grants you received under false pretences.
And apologize.

Thought about killing himself? I wonder why he didn’t think about the SCAM he was perpetrating. Or maybe he didn’t give THAT any really SERIOUS thought either!

he contemplated suicide This would be so much more believable in a suicide note found next to his lifeless body than in a verbal confession to a media source. How dramatic.
And his punishment? He should be condemned to Haiti, where he has to work to develop wealth for the people in that country, so they can stop dying every time a natural disaster strikes. Right now, celebrities come in while the spotlight is on, then take off until the next disaster.

This guy is just about the last person in the world who would ever kill himself. But fishing for sympathy in this way just proves to me that he is a master manipulator. I now feel like I know this guy. I just didn't realize it until I read this article. Mark my words... this guy sounds like a lying womanizer. My guess is that this whole climategate thing did not come from a “hacker” or a “whistle blower”. I will bet that of the women Phil Jones was sleeping with released the emails to get even with him.

If you can't take the pressure that you yourself generated, by bringing and polluting science with your own petty political biases, perhaps you should just get out of the cooker, little boy. Leave it to men of real science.
