When I was at Swamp Lagoon (Camp Lejeune, NC), my unit had to qual on the rifle range one day while the leading edge of a hurricane was just making landfall.

strong gusty winds and heavy driving rain. We could see the targets, mostly, but the wind and rain were knocking the stickers off the old bullet holes on the targets so the butt pullers had to guess where the bullets were hitting.

That was the only time I didn’t score expert on the rifle range. I got sharpshooter but no real clue if I ever even actually hit the target.
