“someone who describes himself as a maverick but is a moderate,”

...awesome! Call a spade a spade! Nobody’s falling for that “Maverick” BS anymore. Maybe even turn it up a notch from “moderate” to “progressive”, which is McCain all the way.

It is like running against a Democrat. In a Republican primary.

It's ala carte for Hayworth. Not only can he take McCain on for his leftist agenda, he can point out McCain's behavior in Congress of reaching across the aisle and throwing lifelines with his rhetoric that has stifled conservative momentum.

Good for JD. I hope he wins the primary.

Shame on Sarah Palin.

JD's got a legislative record, as well. So now McCain is going hammer-and-tongs to assert that McCain is the more conservative of the two.

I think this move also splits the Arizona Democrats somewhat. Most of the big-name Democrats in the state have their eye on the Governor's race. The current Governor, Jan Brewer is a Republican who became Governor by Default when Napolitano was tapped by Obama as Secretary of Homeland Security. Now, some of those who had Gubernatorial aspirations might decide to go for the Senate seat instead.

Good idea. There is some hijacking going on. Words mean things. Also noticed something Sarah said including the words “commonsense Republicans’ .

Good news. Just shine the spotlight on Cindy and Meghan and Hayworth’s as good as elected.

....or someone who describes himself as a maverick but is a moderate,"

A moderate is way understated. McCain has the makings of a fine democrat. Afterall, he's been befriended and tutored by their cream of the crop from Cohen and Hart to Kennedy and Feingold since day one of his political career.

A biggie here is McCain’s support for AGW as well as his votes against ANWR..... I hope JD uses that as our gas prices have been going up rapidly in the last few months and all the old people on fixed incomes over here are feeling the pinch.

I think McCain will go Independent if he loses the primary and will likely win that way.

In a three way race, I don't know if that would work for McCain in AZ like it did for Lieberman in liberal Conn.

McCain Now Obama’s No. 1 Senate Ally
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2170484/posts

January 23, 2009
GOP Sen. John McCain is positioning himself to be one of President Barack Obama’s strongest supporters, effectively giving Democrats the votes they need to override any GOP attempt to block the new administration’s legislative agenda.

Obama heaped warm praise on his GOP rival during a dinner held in McCain’s honor the day before the inauguration, calling him a hero.

Insiders duly noted McCain was granted a prime spot on the dais at the inauguration, sandwiched in a seat between White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

The day after the inauguration, Obama and McCain spoke again at the National Prayer breakfast.

It was all part of Obama’s ongoing charm offensive to woo those on the other side of the aisle. The effort was apparently well received by the maverick senator from Arizona, who throughout his career has shown a proclivity for teaming up with Democrats on legislation.[snip]

__________
McCain, just being Mccain, throwing out liberal lines to catch the unsuspecting. Here he promises to push the failed Kyoto treaty.

Oct. 2007
“I am committed as President to pursue the efforts to reduce greenhouse gasses immediately. That includes joining Kyoto as long as we have India and China involved. It would not be fair to the planet to say the two largest growing economies who are greenhouse gas emitters are not part of it. Second of all there is a political reality and the American people would not support our engagement, joining in Kyoto without India and China.”

McCain is really vulnerable what seems to be thousands of issues, especially in a right-tilted Republican primary.

McCain has blown off right-wing talk radio for decades, which is where a lot of these ideas are hashed out. This contrasts with Jon Kyl, who appears regularly on local and national radio shows.

Hayworth has been on the air in afternoon drive time for about 3 years, on the #1 conservative talk radio station in Arizona. Before he was a Congressman, he was a popular sportscaster. So he's got the issues down pat, and he also knows every journalist in Arizona.

While Mr. McCain has led the opposition to the president’s health-care reform

^
And health-care reform almost got past, McCain must still be reading that Alan Grenspan book on Economics

Kick the RINO to the curb.

Never forget how he not just voted against conservative issues, but chose some of the most key votes to stab conservatives in the back.

Not to mention CFR, where he gave Obama and the Socialists a leg up on the GOP.

He’s too stupid to be a Senator.
