He lost his own district.

Lots of Republicans got smoked in the 2006 elections. Buck up. McCain is going down.

“He lost his own district.”

Can anyone elaborate on how Hayworth lost - and to whom?

How many terms did Hayworth serve?

We can defeat McCain with conservative JD Hayworth.
Hayworth, however, must pay off his legal fees before a January 31 deadline in order for him to enter the Senate race. The DOJ dropped the investigation of Hayworth in the Abramoff scandal once they determined Hayworth had nothing to do with the scandal.

Please help Hayworth pay off these legal fees as he is our only shot at knocking off RINO McClame.

Loyalty is a good thing in the long run. McCain selected Palin and put her on the national stage. I'll give him a pass. In pure political terms she can't turn on him and come out looking good (Et tu, Bruté?). I'm trying to enjoy the conservative McCain now because we won't see that again after November.

This is absolutely devastating! If she does this she's a bigger dumbass than Tina Fey ever tried to make her out to be. Sarah will also lose tons of support. I don't know what's happening here because I've seen an awful lot of rino palling around after this Brown win. It's disturbing to say the least!

Agree! I sent her money, bought her book as Christmas gifts, and supported her from day one. I held my nose and voted for McCain for her, and now, she is becoming one of them. I cannot support McCain, and if we want something done about immigration, then McCain needs to be defeated. I will give money to JD Hayworth, and hope for another upset. If Massechusetts can do what they did, so can Arizona.

OK, so he’s darn solid...has he ever run for statewide office - state Senate or something...sorry to use you as Bing, I just figured you might enlighten us all on Hayworth, since we’re talking about it.

Why in the world does Sarah want to be on the wrong side of that sentiment? I’m baffled...I know she’s trying to be loyal...but it’s not good sense...she could have promised to show up for McLame once he (read between the lines IF) pulled out the primary...easy...done.

Why didn’t she do that? Baffling.

IMO what Palin should have done is quietly finished out her term, and then just LAY LOW for a few years, no book deals or TV appearances or anything, so that she could reintroduce herself later. Perhaps take Charles Krauthammer or someone as a mentor. Then, she could come back on the national stage strong for 2012. As it is, she seems overexposed.

He has not run in a state-wide election as far as I know. However, a recent Rasmussen poll in Arizona put him at 44% and McCain at 45% for the GOP Senate Primary. Those numbers are very encouraging, especially for a guy who hasn’t even announced yet whether he is running.

Hayworth is very conservative and very good on border security and stopping amnesty - as opposed to McAmnesty.

"Wonder what the Tea Party Convention thinks about all this?"

The question is, will the Tea Party Convention be understanding of Sarah Palin's friendship for John McCain? She will be a featured speaker at that event this February. I am sure they will be pleased with her appearance.

We must remember that "United we stand and divided we fall." The only way we can make new believers in conservatism is that we attract those who have not got it to come where they can receive it. I am sure that Sarah's friendship with John McCain will make him a true believer from her influence. And that will a great thing to happen, don't you see?

I concur. As an Arizonan, I'm thrilled that we actually have a shot to get rid of McCain in the Republican primary.

Palin's endorsement of McCain changes the whole dynamic. To campaign for McCain in THE PRIMARY is a disgusting betrayal of conservative principles!

Good question, and very fair! Not sure at this point. Thankfully there's still time left to watch how things shake out. She's not going away, and there is plenty of time time for her, and the others, to drop the ball.

This will be my 12th presidential election and I've learned just how quickly things can change. With nearly three years left to go I would expect the landscape to change a great deal.
